New Toyota Camry nabs 5-star ASEAN NCAP Rating

Following its recent introduction by UMW Toyota Motor, the Toyota Camry has been recognized as a 5-star ASEAN NCAP recipient. The New Toyota Camry is awarded with 5-star ratings at the recent New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries crash test result. Following an announcement made by local governing authorities, the ASEAN NCAP emblem is mandatory  for all manufacturers to display on vehicles, starting from 1 March 2020.

Having launched in December 2018, the New Toyota Camry  took up 49.04 points in the ASEAN NCAP crash test for the Adult Occupant Protection (AOP), 22.68 points for Child Occupant Protection (COP) and 19.75 point for Safety Assist Technologies (SATs) assessments. With the Camry scoring in all aspects including effective breaking avoidance, seat belt reminders, blind spot technology and advance safety assist technologies, it received 5-Star rating with an overall score of 91.47 points.

Currently in its eighth-generation, the New Camry continues the model’s legacy since early 1990s with a completely redesigned  package. The New Toyota Camry is available in the 2.5V variant, along with the Advanced Toyota Safety Sense suite which include Pre-collision System, Lane Departure Alert (LDA), Steering Assist, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) and Automatic High Beam (AHB).

Exterior-wise, the New Camry is a step-up from the previous generation Camry with a futuristic and expressive shell. Using the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform, the New Camry offers a more responsive handling and sits in a tougher body, structure. The car also includes many world-class features to provide total peace-of-mind and greater driving pleasure.

Moving inside, the New Toyota Camry comes with plenty of top-notch features, including  Leather Seat with Driver Memory Function, 10-inch Color Head-up Display, 8-inch DVD Capacitive Touchscreen Display with 9-speaker JBL Audio System, 7-inch Color Multi-information Display (MID) with Optitron Meter, Wireless Charger, Power Rear Sunshade, dual Air-conditioner with Rear Vent, adjustable Steering with memory and Smart Entry with Push Start.

At a starting price of RM 189,900, the New Camry comes in one variant with a 2.5-liter engine (184 PS/235 Nm). In addition, a 6-speed Automatic with Super ECT & Sequential Shifter ensures a smoother and quicker response time.
