The Aston Martin DBX is Aston Martin’s 1st SUV, and it is built to present Aston Martin’s new principle of beauty, luxury, and driving dynamics. The DBX will be built on brand new architecture and powered by the spirit of adventure, which means the DBX is ready to go anywhere.
The foundation of the DBX is a new dedicated SUV platform, which allow maximum room in the cabin, while putting a premium on refinement, and class leading spaciousness for both front and rear occupants. The DBX utilizes bonded aluminum construction method that created a light and incredibly stiff body structure, but still weighing in at 2,245kg.
One of the highlight for the DBX is the adaptive triple volume air suspension. The suspension combined with the latest 48v electric anti-roll control system (eARC) and electronic adaptive dampers. The suspension allowed the DBX to raise the car up to 45mm or lower it down by 50mm.
Powering the DBX will be the 4-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 engine found in DB11 and Vantage. The engine in the DBX produces a power output of 550PS and 700NM of torque, specifically tuned to suit the DBX while providing an Aston Martin specific sound character. Paired with a 9-speed torque converter automatic transmission and all-wheel drive system, this allow the DBX to accelerate from 0-100km/h in 4.5 seconds, and hitting a top speed of 291km/h. The all-wheel drive system features active differential and an electronic rear limited slip differential (eDiff).
The DBX is Aston Martin’s first ever full-size 5-seat model, which is designed to accommodate the world’s 99th percentile male and 5th percentile female. Boot space is measured in at 632 litres and can be extended by the 40:20:40 split folding rear seats. The DBX interior is handcrafted and provide class-leading headroom and legroom combines with a full-length glass panoramic roof and frameless door glass to offer a fantastically light and spacious cabin environment.
Other small touches such as separate central armrests, glovebox design, and the ergonomic positioning of the car’s key control systems was the input from the brand’s Female Advisory Board. The leather used to trim the seats are sourced from Aston Martin’s from long term partner Bridge of Weir.
The seats are trimmed in sumptuous, full grain leather, sourced from long term partner Bridge of Weir. An industry first, both the headlining and electric roof blind are available in a luxurious Alcantara® finish, providing a harmonious design, light obscuration and solar attenuation without compromising headroom. Throughout the cabin, DBX maintains an authenticity of materials, with judicious use of metal, glass and wood throughout the cabin.
As for technology, Aston Martin have equipped the DBX with a 10.25” TFT screen in the centre console, while a 12.3” TFT screen as the instrument cluster. Apple CarPlay, 360-degree camera system and ambient lighting that offers 64 different colours in two zones comes as standard in the DBX.
On the exterior, the DBX feature the signature ‘DB’ grille at the front, through the sculptured sides and design feature line, to the tailgate with a flip that draws inspiration from Vantage. Attention to detail such as the hidden side glass seals on the frameless doors and glass B-pillar finishers add an elegant sleekness and confidence to the stance.
