Audi Q7 Quattro joins domestic line-up

Audi Q7 Quattro launch, Immo_3 Audi Malaysia today introduced its flagship SUV, the Q7, intended for the domestic Premium’Luzury SUV segment According to Audi Malaysia’s Managing Director Immo Buschmann, there’s a huge market potential for the new Audi Q7 Quattro in the aforementioned segment, in the country.

Buschmann commented during his welcome remarks, “The gray market segment outsold the official import version by a ratio of 8 to 1 (388 vs. 51 units), which means there’s a big market out there to convert those customers into buying an official Q7 Quattro. We have to convince those potential customers why it is better to buy from the official importer than a parallel model and as such we are working hard to move in that direction for those buyers of the Q7.”

The Q7 Quattro introduces Audi’s new SUV design language to both exterior and interior features, debuting an all-new lightweight, multi-material body and chassis. Through a combination of clean and simple lines, and innovative technology, the Q7 interior offers drivers and passengers alike an exceptional driving experience.

First introduced back in September 2005 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the original Q7 was the pioneering SUV from the German auto maker from Ingolstadt, which laid the groundwork for the marque’s future success in luxury SUVs. It broke new ground with its streamlined body style, capable driving dynamics, luxurious comfort and ergonomic practicality.

Among the features in the Q7 Quattro are the specially-crafted double inlay dash design, customizable ambient interior LED lighting and segment-exclusive Bang & Olufsen 3D Advanced Sound System, decked with 23 speakers and two retractable acoustic lenses all powered by a 23-channel amplifier, with an output of 1,920 watts. A Bose 3D Sound System is also available, which includes 19 speakers, a 15-channel amplifier and 558 watts to deliver acoustic accuracy and impact.

While the exterior dimensions have remained similar to the outgoing version, the new Q7 Quattro offers substantially more interior room for passengers with seating for up to seven. With exceptionally competent dynamics, driver assistance systems and connectivity, the Q7 sets the benchmark for the premium/luxury SUV segment.

Elsewhere, the newly developed five-link suspension layout offered on all Q7s allows for optimized steering rack placement and an extremely compact design enabling a completely flat and lower cargo area at the rear. Handling and comfort enhancements have also been made possible through the reduced unsprung weight of lightweight aluminum control arm components and revised elasto-kinematic attributes. Other related attributes which contribute to effective handling comprises of the permanent all-wheel drive system, the MLB-Evo platform, lightweight structures, dynamic chassis setup and lastly, the tight 20-inch aluminium wheels.

The new Q7 Quattro SUV comes with the latest generation 3.0 TFSI V6 petrol engine wit combined demand-controlled direct injection and manifold injection. An 8-speed tiptronic transmission is standard, and this allows the engine to produce a maximum output of 333 hp and a total of 440 Nm of torque from 2,900 to 5,300 rpm. Zero to hundred sprint is completed in 6.3 seconds, 1.6 secs better than the previous edition, while top speed goes up to 250 km/h.  Despite its exhilarating performance, the new Audi Q7 Quattro records a combined fuel consumption cycle of 7.9 liters/100 km as well as a CO2 emissions rating of 183 g/km.

As with all Audi models, the Q7 Quattro comes packed with numerous electronic and mechanical feature to ensure an efficient and safe driving experience whether on or off the road, including a start/stop system with energy recovery, tyre pressure loss indicator, hill descent control, Electronic Stabilization Control (ESC) which includes Traction Control (ASR), Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD), Electronic Differential Lock (EDL) and Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), and a total of eight airbags.

The new Audi Q7 Quattro is offered in ten color choices: Carrara White, Glacier White, Floret Silver, Carat Beige, Argus Brown, Ink Blue, Graphite Grey, Night Black, Orca Black and a special Daytona Grey with pearl effect. Available for booking at all authorized Audi dealerships from November 20 onwards, the Quattro Q7 is priced from RM589,900, not inclusive of insurance but including the manufacturer’s warranty.
