BMW have been busy recently after launching the latest M135i and X1 few week back, today BMW launch 4 more high performance variant of their cars in Malaysia. The 4 cars are the BMW M8 Coupé, BMW M8 Gran Coupé, BMW X3 M Competition, and BMW X4 M Competition.
The BMW M8 Coupé and BMW M8 Gran Coupé manage to combine the sportiness of a race car with the luxuriousness of a grand tourer. The exterior of the both cars will feature M-specific front apron which include the M-specific decorative mesh on the kidney grille, BMW Laserlights with high beam assist, M-specific twin stalk wing mirrors, flared aluminium wings with M gills, M rear spoiler, M-specific M8 rear diffuser, and M-specific exhaust system with twin tailpipes and chrome trims.
The other highlight features on the both cars include soft-close function for the doors, lacquered carbon-fibre roof, 20-inch M light alloy wheels in Double-spoke style 810 M Bicolour with mixed tyres, and the automatic tailgate operation.
Powering both the BMW M8 Coupé and BMW M8 Gran Coupé is the high-revving 4.4L V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology. The engine will deliver 600 hp and 750Nm of torque, which translated to a 0-100km/h time of 3.3 seconds and tops out at a limited top speed of 250km/h. Drivers can setup the powertrain mode in 3 different mode, Efficient, Sport, and Sport+, which will change the throttle response and open the exhaust valve.
Transmitting the power to the road is the new 8-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic, which will be operated sequentially via an M8-specific gear selector in S mode, or manually via paddles on the steering wheel. The D button enables the driver to choose between three different Drivelogic modes, which are activated through an integrated rocker switch in the vehicles’ new gear selector.
Connecting to the transmission is the M xDrive all-wheel-drive system that is a rear biased AWD system that gives the M8s a rear-wheel-drive character. To further enhance the experience, the Active M differential will make sure the power distribution between the rear wheels to ensure optimal traction and directional stability. Lastly, the M-specific brakes is an innovative technology that BMW manage to combine the brake activation, brake booster, and braking control functions into one compact module.
The interior for both of the M8s will get M Sport seats with integrated illuminated M logo, M8 word on door sills, M-specific gearshift lever knob, M seat belts and the 16-speaker Harman Kardon surround sound system with 464-watt amplifier power. The BMW Live Cockpit Professional will be running on the BMW Operating System 7.0 that consist of an all-digital 12.3” instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch Control Display and a full-colour Head-Up Display with additional M-specific displays.
For safety, both of the M8s will get Active Cruise Control with Stop&Go function, the BMW Personal CoPilot driver assistance systems include the Driving Assistant Professional, and Parking Assistant Plus. These options contain functions such as Lane Keeping Assistant with side collision protection, Lane Change Assistant, Crossing-traffic Warning and the Reversing Assistant and many more.
Interested buyers can get the BMW M8 Coupé and the BMW M8 Gran Coupé in seven different colours, namely Alpine White, Brands Hatch Grey, Marina Bay Blue, Motegi Red, Black Sapphire, Donington Grey and Barcelona Blue. Both interiors will be furnished with the Merino Leather offering in either Black or Silverstone. For buyers who wanted a more unique colour option, they could get the Frozen Bluestone exterior colour by paying an additional RM 30,000. Currently, there’s only one unit with this colour in Malaysia.
The BMW M8 Coupé and BMW M8 Gran Coupé will be priced RM 1,452,960.88 and RM 1,455,145.25, and will be available at all authorised BMW dealerships nationwide from 14th August 2020.
On top of the 2 M8s, there is also the two new BMW X3 M Competition and BMW X4 M Competition. Both of the BMW X3 M Competition and BMW X4 M Competition is meant to further expand the BMW X portfolio of powerful Sports Activity Vehicles (SAV) and Sports Activity Coupés (SAC) respectively.
The looks on both of the BMW X3 and X4 M Competition has added M design elements that complemented by the sporty aesthetics of the BMW X. On the exterior, both the X3 and X4 gets a large hexagonal air intake for brake cooling, adaptive LED headlights with high-beam assist, M Sport exhaust system with black chrome tailpipes, 21-inch bicolour M alloy wheels, and black kidney grille surrounds, side gills and wing mirror caps.
Individually, the X3 M Competition gets a slim diffuser in high-gloss Black and an M-specific roof spoiler. While on the X4 M Competition, features a black aerodynamic spoiler at the rear.
Powering both the BMW X3 and X4 M Competition is the newly-developed 3 L M TwinPower Turbo straight-six petrol engine that pushes out 510bhp and a peak torque of 600Nm, which will propel the car from 0-100km/h in 4.1 seconds. Same as the M8s, the top speed of both cars are limited at 250km/h.
The 8-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic paired with the M xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive system sends power to all 4 wheels though the Active M Differential to provide a sportier driving characteristics. To keep all 4 wheels on the roads, there are strut braces to provide a stiffer chassis to work in tandem with the adaptive dampers, and stiffer stabilisers.
The interior of the BMW X3 and X4 M Competition comes with M specific interior ambience that is equally sporty and elegant. There are M model designation door sills, M leather steering wheel with shift paddles, red M Drive buttons, a red Start/Stop button, M gear selector lever, carbon fibre trim finishing, M colours seams on the seats, M seatbelts, M pedals, along with a M-specific instrument cluster, and knee pads to remind you that you’re in something special.
On top of all the trims, there are high-tech advance systems built into both of the X3 and X4 M Competition. The systems include Head-Up Display with M-specific display, Parking Assistant Plus featuring Surround View and Remote 3D Service, and a 10.25” iDrive system with gesture control. The final touches to enhance both the X3 and X4 M Competition driving pleasure, there are the 600W Harmon Kardon sound system to provide endless in-car entertainment.
Both of the BMW X3 and X4 M Competition is available in 6 different colours include Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Donington Grey, Phytonic Blue, Sophisto Grey and the new Toronto Red. Depending on the selected exterior offering, the new models can be furnished with exquisite Leather Merino interior upholstery in Black, Sakhir Orange or Adelaide Grey.
The BMW X3 M Competition and BMW X4 M Competition will be priced at RM 886,551.58, and RM 904,276.60 and will available at all authorised BMW dealerships nationwide from 14th August 2020 onwards.
