The BMW 3 Series has a true testament to “what’s not broken, don’t fix it”. The new BMW 3 Series’ debut in Malaysia Is highlighted by the M Sport package version, and it’s exclusive to this country. As always, BMW kidney grille with the familiar headlights and Hofmeister kink are instantly recognizable. Other highlights are the coupe-like roofline, spoiler lip and 90mm exhausts.

In dimensions, the newer 3 Series is 76mm longer (4,709mm), 16mm wider (1,827mm) and  6mm taller (1,435mm) than its predecessor. A longer wheelbase by 41mm (2,851mm) gives occupants better comfort.

Moving inside, the Premium Sedan in M Sport trim comes with first-in-class BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant with unprecedented level of voice recognition. Other important firsts for the edition’s 3 Series are the New BMW Digital Key, New Parking Assistant, as well as the latest generation of the BMW Live Cockpit Professional, a fully-digital 12.3-inch instrument cluster and 10.25-inch Control Display. We checked with the Head of Product from BMW Malaysia that the Digital key only works with Samsung mobilephones with NFC-enabled feature to lock/unlock the car.

The BMW 330i M Sport is equipped with an in-line four-cylinder engine, paired with an 8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission. The powertrain outputs 190 kW/258 hp with a peak torque of 400 Nm from 1,550 to 4,400 rpm. It goes from 0 to 100km in just 5.8 seconds. Fuel consumption is kept honest at 6.4 liter per 100 km.

The car is lighter, more rigid than previous model, thanks to a sturdier chassis and lightweight construction. Gross weight is reduced by 25 kilograms.

For driving dynamics, the new 3 Series’ M Sport suspension features the first-ever lift-related dampers. In addition, the expanded track widths improve the vehicle’s agility and steering precision while the striking blue-painted callipers that display the M logo fitted onto the M Sport brakes lends to its signature design.
