|BMW Malaysia today unveiled the X5 Performance Edition to uplift the aged SAV’s(Sports Activity Vehicle) persona. With the X5 Perfomance edition, BMW now offers up to three versions of the X5 variant; the X5 xDrive35i, X5 xDrive30d and the latest X5 Performance Edition.|
BMW X5 Performance Edition powerplant
Incorporating an upgraded BMW TwinPower Turbo inline six cylinder and Double VANOS 3.0-liter powerplant, the X5 Performance gives an output of 320hp, a markedly upbeat increase by 14hp from the X5 xDrive35i. Torque ratings is 450 Nm, enabling a 0 – 100km/h sprint in just 6.6 seconds; that’s 0.2s better than the current X5.
X5 Performance Edition: What’s new on the outside
Most X5 Performance Edition aesthetics are inherited from the current X5 xDrive35i, except for the more distinguished kidney grille at the front, BMW M Aerodynamics package that includes performance-oriented front and rear bumper, 20” M double-spoke light alloys and BMW Individual roof rails in high-gloss shadow line on Alpine White or aluminium satinated on Carbon Black.
The XDrive, all-wheel drive system in the Performance edition has been improved for agility and stability paragons with its new torque split of 40% on the front axle and 60% on the rear axle.
Interior-wise, the X5 Performance edition gets the M Sport leather steering and Individual Piano Black trims. Advanced technologies available in the updated X5 include Head-up display, rear view camera with top view display for parking, the Navigation Professional, iDrive with control display, a USB/audio interface plugpoint and Teleservices.

Arriving at BMW showrooms at the end of March, the BMW X5 Performance Edition retails for RM588,800, minus insurance, but inclusive of a 3-year or 60,000km service program and BMW Service + Repair Inclusive (BS+RI).
