Chevrolet Camaro Commemorative Edition premieres at SEMA

2015 Camaro Commemorative Edition convertible Recently previewed at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas, the Chevrolet Camaro Commemorative Edition is a special edition version to mark the fifth-generation Camaro’s success as a best selling performance car in the U.S.A. Prior to the 2015 Camaro Commemorative Special Edition, there had been eight special Camaro versions, from 2010 – 2013: the Transformers version (2010 and 2012), the Indy Pace Car (2010 and 2011), the Synergy Series, the Neiman Marcus Edition (2011), the Synergy Series (2012), the Camaro 45th Anniversary (2012), and the Camaro Dusk and Camaro Hot Wheels in 2013.

More than 400,000 fifth-generation Camaros have been sold since April 2009. Since then, Camaro has been America’s best-selling performance car for four consecutive years.

The 2015 Camaro Commemorative Special Edition is available on 2LT and 2SS coupes and convertibles and includes the RS package.

The exterior features of the Commemorative Edition include unique 20-inch wheels; exclusive stripe; body-color front splitter; ZL1 rear spoiler; and Commemorative Edition fender emblems.

Five exterior color combinations are available: Black with Cyber Gray stripe, Silver Ice Metallic with Cyber Gray stripe, Summit White with silver stripe, Ashen Gray Metallic with silver stripe and Red Hot with black stripe. SS versions receive a body-color hood insert.

The new Adrenaline Red interior, only offered on the Commemorative Edition, features adrenaline red and black leather seating surfaces, adrenaline red instrument panel insert and red stitching on the seats, steering wheel, shift knob, shift boot, door trim armrest and center console lid. Additional details exclusive to the Commemorative Edition include a leather-wrapped, flat-bottom steering wheel and Commemorative Edition sill plates.

Since its introduction, the Camaro line has expanded to nine distinct versions, beginning with the 323-horsepower V-6-powered LS coupe and LT in coupe and convertible variations. Next in line was the SS in coupe and convertible variations that came with a 6.2L V8 engine to deliver up to 426 horsepower and do 0-60 mph in 4.7 seconds. Then, there was the road-racing-inspired Camaro SS Coupe 1LE performance that’s fitted with manual transmission only. Its unique gearing, suspension tuning and tyre sizes make it capable of more than 1 g of lateral acceleration. Above-the-line Camaros that came soon after included; the ZL1, Z/28, and the dedicated dragster, COPO Camaro. The COPO is a hand-built race car designed exclusively for drag racing. Only 69 COPOs were built between 2012 – 14, and another 69 targeted for next year.

The 2015 Chevy Camaro Commemorative Edition is scheduled to go on sale in the coming spring.
