Enter the Volkswagen Tiguan

Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia today officially introduced the new VW Tiguan in two variants, the Comfortline and Highline. The locally-assembled Volkswagen Tiguan was previously previewed by the company at a special tour.

In looks, the new Volkswagen Tiguan has a recognizable front-end with the signature front grille that is finished in chrome. The square-shaped headlights and upper, lower LED daytime running lights further give the Tiguan its appealing front-end look, thanks to a V-shaped character line. Front foglights are positioned on the lower bumper to express a more sedan-like feature. Double five-spoke wheels complete the elegant exterior package of the new Tiguan. From the rear, the new Tiguan impresses with the new LED lights and slim proportion.

Moving to the inside, the new Volkswagen Tiguan houses a premium cabin with soft-touch and high-grade materials. Highlights include the semi-flat bottomed steering with intuitive switches, two-ring meters, a clear TFT information display between the meters, a 12.3-inch touchscreen, three-zone air-conditioning with climate control and keyless entry. The digital Active info display in the instrument cluster provides the driver with the necessary notifications, clear and accessible at all times. In addition, there are six themes for the info display tailored to the driver’s requirement; Speed and Gear, Consumptiona and Range, Efficiency and Navigation and Offroad.

Parking the new VW Tiguan will be an ease thanks to the Park Assist, which helps the driver park the car at 90 degrees or parallel. The car’s seats are made of Vienna leather and comprise a 12-way driver electric seat. Rear passengers get foldable tables, like an MPV or airplane. Meantime, ambient lighting illuminates door linings and side steps to give that premium effect.

The optional App Connect, standard in the Highline variant, allows for connectivity to Car Play, Android Auto and Mirrorlink. This add-on retails for an introductory RM699 from its normal tag o RM1,099.

The new Volkswagen Tiguan is powered by an 1.4 TSI engine, paired to the familiar 6-speed DSG transmission for an Output of 150 PS and 250 Nm of torque, between 1,500 to 3,500 rpm. Acceleration from 0 – 100 km/h takes 8.9 seconds, while combined fuel consumption is 6.7l/100km.

A host of active and passive safety features consist of six airbags, ESC, ABS wtth Brake Assist, Multi collision brakes, Intelligent Crash Report System, Electrronic Parking brake anti-pinch windows and ISOFIX.

The new Volkswagen Tiguan if offered in five colors: Pure White, Deep Black, Atlantic Blue, Tungsten Silver and Indium Grey. VW Tigusn Comfortline is tagged RM148,990 and the Highline is RM 168,990. A 5-year warranty with roadside assistance is standard.
