Ferrari Roma: La Nuova Dolce Vita

From 29th January 2020 onwards, Naza Italia will be showcasing the brand new Ferrari Roma. Ferrari base the Roma on a concept called Nuova Dolce Vita (the new sweet life), which place the Roma as a symbol of luxury and timeless elegance. Ferrari used the name Roma to represent a contemporary reinterpretation of the carefree lifestyle of mid-twentieth century Rome.

The Ferrari Roma was design as a pure GT (grand tourer). Ferrari taken its inspiration from the iconic 250 GT Berlinetta lusso and 250 GT 2+2. On the outside, the Ferrari Roma comes with a minimalist design while still keeping the distinctive Ferrari sleek lines. The Roma is equipped with full LED headlights with a horizontal light strip that is reminiscence of the iconic Ferrari Monza SPs. At the rear, it follows the front minimalist design by integrating the rear spoiler into the rear screen, while the twin taillights is now sleeker.

On the inside, the Roma has a more symmetrical structure compare to the other model in their line-up which are more driver centric. The F1 controls in the Ferrari Roma have been moved onto the centre console and is angled towards to driver to allow the driver to reach and see it easier. Ferrari lined the interior of the Roma with exclusive materials like full-grain Frau® leather, Alcantara®, chromed aluminium, and carbon-fibre.

The Human Media Interface (HMI) is now redesigned to suit Ferrari’s “Eyes on the road, hands on the wheel” design philosophy. For starters, the instrument cluster is now fully digital with all the screens going completely blank when the car is switch off. The instrument cluster is made out of a single 16” HD screen that is curved to make it easier to read. The full screen allow the drivers to personalize the display into different visuals depends on what the driver wants.

There is also a new steering which introduce a whole host of multi-touch controls that allow the driver to control any aspect of the car without needing to take their hands off the wheel. At the centre of the dashboard, Ferrari now uses a new 8.4” HD central display which incorporates the other infotainment, sat-nav and climate control functions. For cars that is fitted with the optional 8.8” colour Full HD touchscreen, this display allow the passengers to view the car’s performance figures and status, and interact with its on-board system selecting music, viewing satnav information and managing air conditioning functions.

Powering the Ferrari Roma is the Ferrari’s award winning V8 turbo engine that produces 456kW at 5,750 – 7,500rpm and 760Nm at 3,000 – 5,750rpm. Ferrari updated the engine with a new cam profiles, a new speed sensor that measure the turbo speeds, and the introduction of Gasoline Particulate Filter to comply with the Euro 6D anti-pollution standards. To send the power to the road, Ferrari employed the new 8-speed dual-clutch transmission which is now 6kg lighter than its 7-speed predecessor.

As for driving dynamics, the Roma is developed to deliver superior driving pleasure and comfort by reducing the vehicle’s weight and introduce the latest evolution of the Side Slip Control. To get the weight reduction, Ferrari uses 70% of brand new components around the bodyshell and chassis. For the Side Slip Control, Ferrari integrated systems such as the E-Diff, F1-Trac, SCM-E Frs and Ferrari Dynamic Enhancer, the latter debuting in the Race position on the Ferrari Roma to provide the Roma with more accessibility in terms handling and grip.

Safety wise, customers can opt for a whole host of safety system such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Departure warning with Traffic Sign Recognition, Blind Spot Detection with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Surround View Camera.

The Ferrari Roma is available from the base price of RM 968,000.00(before duties, customization options, taxes and insurance). Ferrari will provide customers with a 7 years maintenance package when they purchase a brand new or pre-owned Ferrari.
