Hints Of Nissan’s Future EV Design Language

As the world turns to embrace Electric Vehicles, major brands are beginning to come up with signature designs for their EVs. The EV revolution is also changing the vernacular of the automotive industry. Nissan did just that when the Ariya Concept rolled onto the stage at last year’s Tokyo Motor Show.

The Ariya concept indicates Nissan’s first foray into creating a glimpse of the design of Nissan’s upcoming EV model. The Ariya features a spacious, premium cabin with advanced technology and a body that conveys the pure, clean nature of electric cars. The theme applied include the signature V-motion design or “shield”.The shield on the Ariya Concept’s grille shares the sentiment of strength and valor, like the Knights of the Round Table. Since the Ariya Concept has no engine or cooling required , it dons a new type of frontal fascia highlighted by the shield that’s constructed as a single piece to give the Ariya a new EV expression while hinting at Nissan’s J-DNA. At the same time, polycarbonate materials are utilized to protect the shield from debris and such. The catch here is to embody Nissan’s new Timeless Japanese Futurism design language.

A concept rooted in a near-future reality

The Ariya Concept embodies the company’s Nissan Intelligent Mobility vision of personal transportation, one where electrification and vehicle intelligence will offer seamless and adaptive travel experiences free of accidents or harmful emissions. Nissan’s new design philosophy directly supports this by blending advanced technology, including safety, connectivity and human machine interfaces.

The Ariya Concept stands out as one of the primary elements designers focused on that could exist in the real world. The car looks ready to roll down the streets of Tokyo, London or any global city. Features like the award-winning ProPILOT 2.0 advanced driver assistance system, e-Pedal and the e-4ORCE dual-motor all-wheel control system have already been put to the test. The Ariya concept shows how future Nissan cars will actually perform.
