The first generation CR-V from 1995 – 2001, a Japan-specification variant, kickstarted the era where the concept of an SUV changed with a shift to sedan-based design. Honda persevered further into the amalgamation of the SUV – Sedan design concept in the 2nd generation CR-V from 2001 – 2006 and refined it further in the 3rd generation CR-V from 2006 – 2011. The gamble paid off brilliantly as the CR-V accumulated a whopping 4.9 million units in global sales through the three generations.

As all cars go through the customary 5-year new variant cycle, the 4th-Gen locally-assembled CR-V is the latest representation of Honda’s comfortable Runabout Vehicle. Based on the SUV’s three principles of Functional, Efficient and Confident, the latest CR-V has shorter significant dimensions compared to its predecessor; wheelbase has shrunk 30mm to 4545mm bumper to bumper and overall height is decreased by 30mm at 1685mm. The more compact dimensions do not mean the interior space has been compromised as the 4th-Gen CR-V still offers adequate head clearance and a large boot for all necessary large items.

A slim turn signal, front to rear swooping silhouette and defined shoulder line emphasize the CR-V’s sporty demeanor. At the rear, the “boomerang-shaped” lights (when viewed from the side) extend from the roof to the center portion and shark fin antenna, both resemble the Volvo XC60 closest. Further, the stepped bumper and chrome-piece at the center add a touch of class to the new CR-V indefinitely. Bigger wheels (17-inch) complete the CR-V’s bold ambitions.
