Honda Jazz Sport Hybrid leads showcase of 2017 Jazz line-up

The 2017 Honda Jazz Sport Hybrid i-DCD has been introduced by Honda Malaysia. today. Priced below RM90K, the latest Jazz Hybrid is the only Sport Hybrid in the country below RM90,000 price point. The Jazz Sport Hybrid and the Petrol version are now available at dealerships nationwide, with delivery expected from July.

The 2017 Jazz Hybrid is equipped with a new 1.5L DOHC i-VTEC engine combining 7-Speed Dual Clutch transmission (DCT) with Integrated High Power Motor to promote a more linear acceleration. The Hybrid system is powered by a Lithium-Ion battery with 1.5 times its energy capacity which is 50% more powerful compared to its predecessor.

On the Sport-mode, with a press of the “S” button, the Sport Hybrid i-DCD provides maximum combined output of the engine and electric motor at a horsepower of up to 137PS, which is equivalent to a 1.8l engine. Coupled with a 7-speed DCT, EPS (Electric Power Steering) and Li-on battery, the Jazz Sport hybrid gives an overall sportier drive. Meantime, independent positioning of engine and motor allows the Jazz hybrid to be a lot more effective in terms of handling and ride comfort. Additionally, fuel-efficiency is recorded at 4.0l/100km, and the car could even be driven on full Electric Vehicle (EV) mode. Moreover, air-conditioning system of the Sport Hybrid i-DCD is driven by the Motor compressor compared to IMA which exhibits capability to maintain cabin temperature at idle stops. This improved system allows a comfortable ride for everyone in the vehicle even during peak traffic conditions.


The 2017 Jazz Hybrid will be available in one variant and offers a couple of enhancements unique to the Hybrid model. Firstly, the Shift by Wire Gear for smoother and sporty gear exchange for the Sport Hybrid i-DCD system. Next is the 3D Speed Meter Design (Multi-Information Display) which displays a variety of information such as Energy Flow, Sport Meter, Fuel Economy, Drive Info, Customization and Eco Display. The Jazz Sport Hybrid also received an addition of Cruise Control for a better driving experience.

2017 Honda Jazz Petrol version

The refreshed third-generation Jazz petrol version takes up a 1.5l i-VTEC engine, coupled with Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT). Available in three variants, Jazz S, Jazz E and Jazz V, the Jazz petrol features an updated chrome front grille, front and rear bumpers, a push-start switch and smart entry, as well as an ECON button..

The Jazz V variant comes with dual-tone color wheels, while LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL) and Reverse camera are equipped on both Jazz E and V trim levels. The Jazz V also include paddle Shift, cruise control and semi-leather seats. The E variant gets an upgrade to touch panel auto air-conditioning. Both variants are equipped with a 6.8-inch display for available connectivity and accessibility.

Upholstery-wise, the 2017 Jazz has multi-configuration seat modes. The Ultra seats is a feature that is unique to the Jazz and even with the Intelligent Power Unit (IPU) placement underneath the cargo space in the Jazz hybrid, the Ultra seats arrangements are still made available.

Equally well-equipped safety wise, the 2017 Jazz carries a 5-Star ASEAN NCAP safety rating. Brake Assist (BA) and Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) are available across all variants. The V variant will maintain the 6 airbags while the E variant will be upgraded to 4 airbags. Similar to the E variant, the Sport hybrid will also be receiving 4 airbags. Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) and Hill Start Assist (HSA) are made available for the Jazz E, V and Sport hybrid.

The Jazz petrol is offered in 5 colors (Modern Steel Metallic, Lunar Silver Metallic, Carnival Red, Taffeta White and Crystal Black Pearl), while the Sport hybrid is presented in Lunar Silver Metallic, Modern Steel Metallic or White Orchid Pearl. All Jazz comes with 5-year warranty, with the hybrid getting an 8-year warranty for the battery. Jazz hybrid comes in at RM RM87,500 and the petrol versions range from RM74,800 to RM88,400. All prices include insurance.

Honda Malaysia also showcased the Jazz Mugen Concept Car to highlight the stylish outlook of Mugen accessory package. The Mugen package is offered at RM5,670 which includes front, side and rear skirts with tailgate spoiler; available from October. At the same time, the available Urban an Utility packages are priced at RM1,580 and RM820, respectively.
