Isuzu Malaysia upbeat about the CV and LCV segments in 2019



At the media appreciation gathering last week, Isuzu Malaysia gave the media an update on their business portfolio, particularly the Commercial Vehicle (CV) and Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) segments.

Isuzu Malaysia faces stiff competition in the CV market from their rivals, HINO, but the brand is still preferred and has managed to hold the no.1 position in the segment for the fifth consecutive year. In the LCV segment, Isuzu, boosted by high sales in August 2018, manages to sustain third spot to overtake Mitsubishi and Nissan by December.  

Expanding Dealer Network

Despite a slowing economy , Isuzu Malaysia has made forward strides in the expansion of network. At the start of the year, two dealerships have sprung up in Muar and Kluang. This month, an Isuzu Service center is scheduled to open in Cameron Highlands.

Chief Executive Offer of Isuzu Malaysia, Koji Nakamura, “We will be striving to improve our CV and LCV markets. Last year was a tough year, but we fought hard to build stronger ties with our loyal customers and communicate core values to potential customers.”

LCV market continues a strong spurt

The Isuzu D-Max, one of the most popular pick-ups in the country, has pushed the brand to third overall in the LCV segment in 2018.

The company has introduced enhancement to the D-Max with the RZ4E-TC 1.9-liter Ddi Blue power  turbo diesel engine. This engine is already equipped to the D-Max and mu-X models distributing in Thailand. Although smaller in displacement, the 1.9-liter engine offers 10% more power than the 2.5-liter VGS turbo in Isuzu’s current line-up. And not only that, the new engine gives more torque 9.4%, faster acceleration by 8.2% and more fuel economy, 19%.

As a continuous effort to improve the D-Max, new Titanium and Robust packages were announced during the media appreciation do. The Titanium package has new headlight garnish in chrome, rearlight combi guard, door handle cover & garnish, stainless-steel door sill plate and door visor. The Robust package has all the above, but in matt black finish. Besides the packages, optional accessories are available.
