Kia K4 Sedan is exclusively for the Chinese market

Kia Motors has world premiered its new K4 Sedan at the Chengdu Motor Show in China. The new Kia K4 sedan, built together with the ventureship with Dongfeng, is exclusively for the Chinese market and ranges between the C-segment K3 and the D-segment K5. The K4 sedan is based on the concept which was first showcased at the recent Beijing Auto Show in April.

Featuring a bold and elegant new design, accentuated by stylish and bold lines and Kia’s hallmark ‘tiger-nose’ grille, the new K4 offers a practical, well-balanced choice for discerning urban motorists who appreciate new technologies in a classy, less-than-conventional vehicle.

Tiger Nose front grille, Straight lines and curves create ‘harmonized’ effect for the Kia K4 Sedan

Harmonizing straight lines and curves on the exterior, the Kia K4’s elegantly-styled body promises a high level of comfort and spaciousness. The 4.7-meter long K4 boasts a 2,770 mm wheelbase, one of the longest in the segment, while a relatively wide (1,815 mm) and high (1,465 mm) body ensures plenty of space for occupants in both the front and rear seats.

The Kia K4 features a wide array of interior comfort and convenience features, including heated steering wheel, front and rear heated seats, rear air ventilation, smart key, a high-clarity TFT-LCD instrument cluster, and a telematics system designed to work with the latest smartphones.

Two engine options at the start of the K4 Sedan’s production, and a turbo charged option, later

There are two engine options for the new Kia K4 sedan at the moment: both ‘Nu’ gasoline engines in 1.8-liter and 2.0-liter variations. The 1.8-liter engine generates 143 ps and 176 Nm of torque, while the larger 2.0-liter unit gives drivers up to 155 ps and 192 Nm. Both are paired with Kia’s six-speed automatic transmission to offer fully automatic or sequential manual gear selection. Kia’s did say a third engine option in the form of a 1.6-liter turbocharger T-GDI, paired to a 7-speed dual clutch transmission, would be valid when the variant moves up in its lifecycle. The K4 sedan’s turbo gasoline engine is said to generate 176 ps and 265 Nm.

Safety features are packed in for the K4 sedan, including six air bags, VSM (Vehicle Stability Management), TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System), and plenty more.
