Kia Sportage X-Car to commemorate the release of X-Men: Apocalypse

Kia Sportage X-Car front Kia Motors has announced the Kia Sportage X-Men Special Edition (X-Car) to commemorate the release of an upcoming X-Men flick: the X-Men: Apocalypse on 1 May 2016. This marks the second time Kia has come up with a special edition for an X-Men flick; the previous special edition was created for The Wolverine.

The special, one-off X-Men-inspired Sportage CUV is part of Kia’s ongoing collaboration with Twentieth Century Fox, the movie right holder for X-Men: Apocalypse. The 2nd-generation Kia X-Car has been created not only to promote the new X-Men: Apocalypse film but also to be showcased at the upcoming Australian Open Tennis Tournament; which Kia is the title sponsor.

Inspired by X-Men character Mystique, the 2nd generation Kia X-Car mimics the appearance and powers of the famous shape-shifter. Fans of the X-Men film franchise and KIA Motors are invited to watch the Kia X-Car shape-shift in a special on-line video starring Kia’s ‘superhuman’ global brand ambassador Rafael Nadal.

The Kia Sportage X-Car, driven by Nadal, is seen in a tribute shortclip, depicting how the former No.1 utilizes the X-Car to take on the X-Men’s arch-villain Apocalypse. In the clip, the X-Car transforms from its standard state and shape shifts into the custom-designed bodywork with special textured ‘tone-on-tone’ matte and gloss blue paint finish, racing wheels and tyres, along with red and yellow bodywork highlights.

Ahead of the X-Men: Apocalypse’s global release in cinemas in May, Kia will take the covers off the new car in Melbourne, Australia before the start of the the Australian Open 2016 in January and will display the show car to the public at the Melbourne Park throughout the tournament from 18 through 31 January, before making appearances at various international motor shows and fan events in the run up to the film’s premiere.

The Kia Sportage X-Car is the company’s second show car project in collaboration with Fox, following the Wolverine-inspired Sorento that was shown at the Australian Open 2015 earlier this year. The updated Kia Sportage was also revealed earlier this year, building on the global success of the best-selling outgoing model with an attractive, new exterior design, plush interior and a host of new technologies.
