New Kia Stonic starts retailing in Europe in late October

Recently premiered in Europe, the New Kia Stonic is slated to go on sale from 23 October. The Kia Stonic is offered in five variants, based on two trim grades (2 and First Edition) and three powertrains. This model sits between CUV and SUV segments, and Kia expects the model to hit sales of 70,000 units in the European market.

The Kis Stonic is based on the new Rio supermini and will be built on the same production line at Sohari in South Korea. Production capacity at the plant has been steadily ramped up to accommodate the new model. The Stonic is slightly longer than Rio, at 4,140mm. It is also 70mm taller and rides 42mm higher from the ground. Additionally, Stonic has a bespoke body and interior.

The Stonic takes up a 7.0-inch display with a DAB radio and MP3 compatibility or 7.0-inch touchscreen withnavigation and infotainment system. All variants have 17-inch alloy wheels, air conditioning, all-round electric windows with an automatic function on the driver’s side, roof rails, rear parking sensors, remote locking, electrically adjustable heated door mirrors, a 3.5-inch supervision cluster, Bluetooth with voice recognition and music streaming, automatic light control, bi-function projection headlights and cornering lights and LED daytime running lights. Furthermore, there are body-colored bumpers, door mirror casings and door handles, steering wheel-mounted audio controls, 60:40 split rear seats and a six-speaker audio system.

 

 

 

 

 

With the higher trim level (First Edition), the Stonic come with a smart key entry system and engine start/stop button, stainless steel pedals, black cloth and grey faux leather upholstery with color accents, automatic air conditioning, LED rear lights, privacy glass on the rear side windows and tailgate, heated front seats and D-shaped steering, chrome window trim and interior door handles and a dual-height luggage floor.

The Kia Stonic will be available with a 98bhp 1.4-liter multi-point injection petrol engine, a 118bhp 1.0-liter T-GDi (Turbocharged Gasoline Direct injection) unit and a 108bhp 1.6-liter CRDi turbodiesel. All versions have a six-speed manual gearbox and feature ISG, Kia’s intelligent engine stop/start system.

 

In addition, the Stonic line-up comes standard with front-wheel drive, along with a range of active safety features such as; Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Straight Line Stability, Cornering Brake Control, Driver Attention Warning and Hill-start Assist. Other highlights are Autonomous Emergency Braking and Lane Departure Warning System (First Edition only), and Autonomous Emergency Braking is an option for the base Stonic. The First Edition version also has Blind Spot Detection with Rear Cross Traffic Alert.

The Kia Stonic is offered in standard paint color Sienna Brown, with a black roof on the ‘First Edition’. Clear White, Blaze Red, Graphite and Midnight Black are options on grade ‘2’, while ‘First Edition’ versions are valid with Clear White, Blaze Red and Zest Yellow, all with a black roof; Midnight Black with a red roof; Graphite with a lime green roof; and Urban Grey and Satin Silver with an orange roof.

The Kia Stonic has a starting price of 16,295 pounds.
