Land Rover Discovery Sport Gets Relevant Updates For The Year

The 2020 Land Rover Discovery Sport has been introduced by Jaguar Land Rover Malaysia.  The Land Rover (LR) Discovery Sport R-Dynamic for the local Premium SUV market comes in two versions, a 5-seater and 5+2 seater High-spec.

Many already know that the LR Discovery line-up is tough for any off- and on-road adventures, yet elegant and classy. Land Rover has thus decided to upgrade their popular Discovery line-up for the year.

On the outside, the Discovery Sport R-Dynamic, as the title suggests, is striking visually, thanks to new design cues like a sportier silhouette, a bolder front fascia, front grille with fresh bumper and signature LED headlights (front/rear). Elements from Land Rover’s signatures retrained are a prominent clamshell bonnet, rising beltline and a tapered roof.

Inside, elegance and class is well refined in the Discovery Sport R-Dynamic. Land Rover has added new connectivity and display features to bump up user friendliness with these goodies: 10-inch high definition Touch Pro infotainment system with connectivity, a switch to control climate and Terrain Response 2, and a 12-inch high-definition multimedia screen. Other highlights include Head-Up display in full color and a wireless device charging mat.

The 2020 Discovery Sport houses a 2.0l turbocharged Ingenium engine, paired to a ZF nine-speed automatic transmission. The powertrain should be efficient enough to pull all that gross weight of the LR Discovery Sport.

Details have also been incorporated to improve the driving experience and dynamics. Among them include the new power transfer feature called the Driveline Disconnect, which has been employed into the All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system. This feature works by disconnecting the drive of the front axle to the rear wheels under steady state cruising, thereby reducing frictional losses and re-engaging AWD in less than 500 milliseconds.

In addition, the available Terrain 2 Response helps to optimize performance on a variety of different surfaces for better traction and control. Each driving mode tunes the response of the throttle, brakes, differentials, and transmission to deliver premium handling. The drive modes are Comfort, Sand, Grass-Gravel-Snow, Mud & Ruts and Auto.

When it comes to advanced technologies, the Discovery Sport has it in the form of the ClearSight Ground View, Land Rover’s world-first technology is a new feature for the Discovery Sport. It provides drivers with a clear virtual view of the ground in assisting them to navigate through rough terrains, park in tight spaces and to avoid side kerbs on the road.

Safety is utmost

For a premium ride like the LR Discovery Sport, you can bet assistance systems and safety are top notch. The list includes front and rear parking aid, high-speed Emergency Braking, adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, Driver Condition Monitor, 360° Surround Camera with Wade Sensing, seven airbags and more.

The 2020 LR Discovery Sport 5-seater and 5+2 high-spec come with price tags of RM379,800 and RM409,800. The package include a 5-year Warranty or 150,000km, 5-year Servicing or 65,000km and 3-year Roadside Assistance.
