MINI Track Day 2020

MINI Malaysia held a special Track Day for the enthusiasts to showcase its latest model line-ups at the Sepang circuit, last Friday. Although a premium make, the MINI brand has quite taken off like the BMWs, for obvious reasons. But, as part of the BMW Malaysia repertoire, MINI’s current models have an iconic status, particularly with members of the fairer sex.

MINI star model for the Track day was none other than the Limited Edition Countryman Blackheath Edition, along with the scintillating line-ups of the John Cooper Works and Clubman variants. Lucky participants from the local media and enthusiasts had the opportunity to pit their driving skills in the available MINI line-ups on the 5.543 km former Formula 1 track.  Prior to the on-track experience, drivers were briefed about the essence of MINI in the country and safety precautions while on track. MINI Malaysia took the chance to reiterate the multiple models, introduced through last year.

Everyone was stoked when it was time to hit the tracks. The on-track session saw drivers took their positions to get into some of MINI’s most powerful JCW models at the paddock area. Before long, the entourage lined up at the lights to exit the pitlane. As many as 10 MINIs were on track as the drivers got themselves fully immersed in pounding the MINI JCWs on track. MINI Malaysia also brought forth the classic JCW for showcase. Some of the MINI models on track were the John Cooper Works Countryman 306HP, JCW Clubman and the standard 3-Door//5-Door counterparts Clubman.

Following the drive, the drivers testified that the MINI cars offered lots of driving fun and a go-kart feeling, which the brand is known for through the decades. The driving fun of MINIs enabled the drivers to perform high-speed handbrake turns, pound the cars through 15 challenging corners of the track, braking and toy with handling in tricky conditions. The MINI cars, in its own right, offers an impeccable handling, state-of-the-art technology, and top-notch safety, quality and reliability.

“Gunning the MINI on track really brought the car’s racing pedigree to life. It was a ton of fun and it really made me feel alive.”
