In January this year, MMM introduced the locally-assembled ASX, with an attractive price tag between RM 114,269.50 to 128,879.50. Fast forward to November, the ASX gets its final boost from a designer on the inside and out, as the variant nears the end of its product cycle. Available only with the 4WD variant and in Titanium Grey, the aesthetics of the Mitsubishi ASX is firstly accentuated by matte finished 17-inch alloy rims for a more striking demeanor. Highlights to the ASX LE’s exterior include; matte grey body stripes, a shark-fin antenna to spruce up the rear, with a lower roofline, a large rear spoiler with integrated 3rd brake light, and a chrome exhaust.
A darker shade of grey for the Mitsubishi ASX LE in Designer Edition guise
Interior-wise, the ASX LE takes up exciting hues in grey and yellow; the colors are picked to reflect the SUV’s on- and off-road capabilities, as well as the element of fun. Occupants will find that the plush grey leather seats are just as formidable as the seats in the imported version, if not better. Also taking center stage on the inside is the exclusive grey and yellow leather gear knob with diamond stitching.
Trimmings for the ASX designer edition include perforated leather on key touch points, high gloss panel finish on door arm-rests and special floor mats. “We introduced yellow as an element of fun and contrast, especially in the interior, thus making the ASX Designer Edition an SUV that truly stands out even in challenging conditions,” Ibrahim shared his thoughts on the ASX’s interior hues.
Ibrahim, a fashion designer since 1994, has been one of the more popular designers in the country. He currently runs his own fashion company, entitled the Rizalman Ibrahim Couture SB. His past accolades included Mercedes-Benz Asia Fashion and Stylo Fashion Awards.
Apart from the designer inputs, the ASX LE inherits most of the CKD ASX AWD‘s equipment list such as; panoramic glass roof with LED ambient lighting, steering column mounted shift paddles, keyless entry with push start button and security window tint. But, one thing that stands out for the designer ASX is the 8-inch touchscreen monitor that pops up a customized picture at vehicle start-up.
The Mitsubishi ASX LE incorporates a 2.0-liter MIVEC engine with an output of 150 PS and 197 Nm of torque, like the current CKD versions. The powerplant is paired to a INVECS-III CVT (Continuous Variable Transmission) with Sports mode. Standard safety features for the ASX LE are also transferred from the CKD versions, consisting three airbags, ABS and EBD, TC, ASC and Hill Start Assist.
