|Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia today introduced the Triton Phantom Edition at its first Roadtoyr of 2016 in Sunway Pyramid. The Mitsubishi Triton Phantom is limited to 200 units and based on the Triton VGT Adventure.|
At a glance, as the name depicts, the Triton Phantom is all about an all-black color scheme with a dark, sinister exterior motif. The aesthetic of the Triton Phantom is accentuated by 17 inch matte black alloy rims and matte black grille, as well as sports bar with full box, matte black rear bumper, front bumper extender, Xenon HID headlights with DRLs and special all-round Phantom decals.
Inside, the Triton Phantom retains much of the Triton VGT Adventure’s interior appointments, except for the black leather seats. Standard equipment in the Triton Phantom includes first-in-class features such as push start button, keyless operation, tilt, telescopic steering with paddle shifters, 4WD selector, touch screen audio system with reverse camera, auto head lighting, auto wipers and dual zone climate control.
The 2.5-liter 4-cylinder with VGT powerplant is retained for the Triton Phantom, coupled with the Double Overhead Cam (DOHC) 16-valve turbodiesel and common-rail system, the Triton Phantom pushes to an output of 178 PS and up to 400 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm (50 Nm more torque than the Adventure version). The engine paired to a 5-speed automatic transmission with Sport mode, while turning radius for the Phantom is a modest 5.9 meters.
The Triton Phantom takes up Mitsubishi’s RISE (Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution) body construction, a variation of high tensile steel. Along with the impact bars on the sides, the Triton Phantom is one of the safest pick ups around. Other safety features that are standard on the Triton Phantom include dual SRS airbags, a collapsible steering column, anti-intrusion brake pedal and Anti-lock braking (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD).
Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia retails the Triton Phantom at 115,680.76 minus insurance, along with a 3-year warranty.
