New Audi Q3 hits Malaysian market

Audi Malaysia has announced the updated Q3 Compact SUV for the local market. The second-generation Audi Q3 now comes with Virtual Cockpit Plus with MMI touch and navigation. Looks for the Q3 have gone sharper and sleeker than ever before.

As with all current Audis, the front-end signature is the familiar Singleframe with the vertical bars and large air inlets. Then there’s the slim wedge-shaped LED headlights. The Q3 has an athletic profile thanks to a sturdy shoulder line,  wheel arches with contrasting trims and roof edge spoiler. Furthermore, the low-slung D pillars give the SUV a forward thrust impression.  From the rear, the LED light clusters with dynamic indicators are one of the major highlights.

Inside, the Q3 takes up the MMI touch display with high-gloss black glass surrounds and a/c switches just below. Positioning is supposed to be driver-centric. Even the steering is positioned in this way. Larger than the previous Q3, the current Q3 measures 4,484 millimeters long, 1,849 mm wide and 1,585 mm high without a roof antenna (1,616 mm with antenna). The wheelbase, which is 77 mm more, affords more legroom, with the rear seats’ fore/aft increased by 150 mm. This means boot space is expandable from 530 to a maximum of 1,525 liters. To aid boot access, an electric tailgate comes standard for the Malaysian edition Q3.

For multimedia and audio purposes, the new Q3 virtual cockpit plus is the highlight, featuring a 12.3-inch screen on the center console. The  Audi virtual cockpit plus basically  offers more customization possibilities including two further views that the driver is able to set in the MMI. The dashboard houses a 10.1=inch screen for navigation, which accessible with voice control as well. Meanwhile, the Infotainment system in the Audi Q3 features a smartphone interface for smart devices’ connectivity purposes.

Audis are known for ride handling and driving dynamics. The Q3, like the apple, doesn’t fall far from the tree. It carries a 1.4 TFSI petrol engine to output 150hp. This engine is paired to a six-speed S tronic transmission. A top speed of 207km/h Is achievable. With Audi drive select, the driver is able tp decide between comfort to sport mode.
