|Bermaz Motor/Mazda Malaysia today held their very own Motor Show at One Utama Shopping Mall with the announcement of the new Mazda Biante mid-sized MPV and updated CX-9. The soon-to-be-launched all-new Mazda3 was also the major highlight at the mini Auto show.|
Positioned between the Mazda5 compact MPV and Mazda8 large MPV, the new Biante is an anticipated variant that completes Mazda M’sia’s MPV range. In looks, the Mazda Biante has a sculptured body all round with a chiselled front fascia, definitive shoulder lines and attractive rear elements. The headlights take on sharp edge contours that blend to the side windows, giving the Biante a stout front profile. A bottom black mesh grille with rectangle-shaped foglights complete the front profile. At the side, the automatic door opens to a very roomy interior. From the rear, the highlights are the one-piece panel with chrome finishes that houses the rear rounded lights and Mazda and Biante emblems. Straight forward vertical rear foglights are instilled to give the Biante’s rear a lengthen outlook .
Inside, the Mazda Biante incorporates a multi-function steering with paddle shifters and stacked instrument cluster located atop the dashboard. The cabin has class-leading width combined with generous length and height. Meanwhile, the MPV’s forward view is panoramic thanks to large side windows with low sills and an angled front mirror. Seats are mounted according to Mazda’s ‘Theater Layout’ with the rear seats higher than front seats.
Occupants will find it easy to access in and out of the Mazda Biante with the sliding second and third-row seats, plus a ‘Living Mode’ limousine-like room at the rearmost position. Additionally, the one-touch walk-in power sliding doors and low floor definitely promote the easiest of access for up to 8 passengers. Other highlights include the keyless entry system, ample storage spaces and beverage holders for each passenger. An ion generator has been included for good measures, as well as the display and entertainment units featuring the Pioneer NH-P4450 with Navi and reverse camera and Dual-center row head-rest DVD monitor.
The MPV is powered by a SKYACTIV-G 2.o-liter engine that’s mated to a 5-speed Automatic transmission. The Mazda Biante is said to handle succinctly well, thanks to a sturdy suspension system and a rock solid electro hydraulic power assist steering. As a result, the MPV’s turning radius is segment leading, and the all-wheel disc brakes ensure effective and linear stopping.
