Nissan IMk and GT-R 50th Anniversary spearhead 14-model exhibition at Tokyo Motor Show

At its home motor show, Nissan as one of the top three Japanese marques is set to showcase the IMk zero-emission concept car, the incredible GT-R 50th Anniversary and 2020 GT-R Nismo  as part of its 14-model line-up for the show. The IMk, a new zero-emission concept, embodies the future of Nissan Intelligent Mobility. The Tokyo Motor Show kicks off 23 October until 4 November.

Some of the major highlights for the show include the Nissan LEAF e+, Serena e-POWER and new Skyline with the ProPILOT 2.0.

Let’s start with the Nissan IMk Concept; this concept is an EV urban commuter, with new technologies and smooth acceleration. It has a compact body that signals the future of Nissan design. Equipped with the latest ProPILOT advanced driver assistance technologies and seamless connectivity features, the IMk provides a glimpse of how urban-oriented cars may look and feel in the near future. The IMk reflects a minimalistic aesthetic, drawing on Nissan’s new design philosophy, which is predominantly Japanese-centric.

Next up is another MPV or minivan, the Serena now has an e-Power electrified powertrain. Refreshed in August 2019, the Serena now provides 360-degree safety protection as standard equipment across the range. For looks, the MPV has an updated front grille which projects an upmarket look and gives it a sporty character.

The new Nissan Skyline, meanwhile, gets ProPILOT 2.0, specifically for the Hybrid version, the world’s first driver assistance system (hands-free driving). ProPILOT 2.0 engages with the vehicle’s navigation system to help maneuver the car according to a predefined route on designated roadways. The system also enables hands-off driving while cruising in a single lane, as long as the driver’s attention is on the road ahead and the driver is ready to take over when required.

Nissan LEAF e+

The Nissan LEAF e+ offers additional range and more performance with a new powertrain. The high-capacity, high-density battery offers more than 40% additional range (up to 458 kilometers).

GT-R 50th Anniversary Edition

At this year’s Tokyo Motor Show, the Nissan GT-R 50th Anniversary special edition model and the 2020 Nissan GT-R Nismo share the limelight with the concept car. Nissan GT-R 50th Anniversary features exclusive interior and exterior items and two-tone color combinations reminiscent of traditional Nissan works liveries.

The 2020 Nissan GT-R Nismo, on the other hand, has new turbochargers; the same ones used on the 2018 GT3 race car. It’s got new carbon ceramic brakes and new carbon fiber composite on the roof, engine hood and front fenders. Inside, there’re new Recaro front seats, which are 30 kilograms lighter. In addition, the 2020 GT-R Nismo comes with new suspension, transmission tuning and more.
