Nissan Serena S-Hybrid officially debuts

Nissan Malaysia (Edaran Tan Chong Motor) today announced the New Serena MPV. Available in a 2.0l S-Hybrid variant, the MPV has been introduced a little while ago and now officially makes its debut. In Japan, the Serena has amassed more than 33,000 units in sales.

The 2018 Nissan Serena S-Hybrid comes with a new design and sportier outlook, while offering unmatched comfort and space. Plus, advanced safety features and class-leading fuel economy. Two grades are available; the Premium Highway Star and Highway Star.






The Nissan Serena S-Hybrid adopts the new generation global design language; the elements include V-Motion Strut Grille, Dual Layer LED Projector Headlight and LED Signature light, Floating Roof design and LED rearlights with a distinctive ‘S’ design.

Some of the key features of this MPV hybrid are Nissan Intelligent Mobility (NIM) consisting S-Hybrid system with upgraded ECO motor, Intelligent Around View Monitor (I-AVM),, Intelligent Moving Object Detection (I-MOD), Intelligent Driver Alertness (I-DA) and all Smart device connectivity.

A trusty 2.0l for decent output and whole lot of fuel economy

The Nissan Serena S-Hybrid is powered by a 2.0l (MR20DD) Twin CVTC engine, paired with XTRONIC CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) with Adaptive Shift Control (ASC). It offers an output of 150PS / 6,000rpm with a torque of 200Nm / 4,400rpm. Adoption of the new Dual Arm Tensioner (DAT) to maintain optimal tensile force on the belt to reduce friction, reduce power lost and increase fuel efficiency. Accordingly, fuel efficiency has improved by 2.8%, and the best-in-class fuel economy expected is 14.2 km/l (NEDC R101), which is a 13% fuel economy improvement over its predecessor.

Thanks to sound-absorbing liner in the wheelhouse, cabin quietness is much improved. Handling is also improved by increasing the steering rack gear ratio. Additionally, the variable assist electric power steering gives a lighter steering feel at low speed (when parking) and a firm feel at higher speeds for improved stability. And that’s not all,, sturdier front and rear suspension mounting as well as the addition of high performance valve in the shock absorbers deliver a more stable and comfortable ride.

Nissan Serena S-Hybrid Creature comforts






The Nissan Serena S-Hybrid offers plenty of new technologies such as; Hands-Free Dual Power Sliding Door, Dual Back Door, Capless Fuel filler and 7 USB-powered ports. Inside, the MPV gets a soft padded instrumental panel featuring Nissan’s gliding-wing design delivers a sense of panoramic openness, while the full color 7-inch Advance Drive Assist Display (ADAD) provides vehicle and driving information. Other highlights are a flat-bottom leather steering with cruise control, asymmetrical center cluster housing the premium 6.75-inch Clarion touchscreen display audio, push start with intelligent key, and a Dual-zone auto climate control system with rear digital control panel as well as air conditioning ducts for all 3 rows.

The interior space of the Nissan Serena S-Hybrid is the largest and most flexible in its class. The 7-seater MPV now comes with extended interior length by 180mm, additional 20mm and 65mm for its height and width respectively. Upholstery comprises of the Zero Gravity inspired seats, 2nd row Captain seats with dual armrest, a personal table and in all, 13 different seating configurations. A wider sliding door along with power sliding door switch enable easy access.

When it comes to driver assistance and safety, the MPV comes 6 airbags, Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC), Traction Control System (TCS), ABS, Brake Assist (BA), Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD), Hill Start Assist (HSA) and ISOFIX.

The Nissan Serena S-Hybrid Highway Star comes with a fresh new colou, Cashmere Gold alongside its three current colours; Diamond Black, Brilliant White and Tungsten Silver. While the Premium Highway Star offers a Two-Tone exterior color with Brilliant White (Body) and Diamond Black (Roof), Tungsten Silver (Body) and Diamond Black (Roof), and Cashmere Gold (Body) and Imperial Umber (Roof). Additionally, the Premium Highway Star offers combination leather Seats with a color choice of Two-Tone Truffle Brown and Chestnut or Single-tone Black, 10.1-inch Roof-Mounted LCD Panel, Tech-on Tray Mat (for the personal table), DVR, LED room lamp, tinting, 16-inch diamond cut wheels and door visors.

The Nissan Serena S-Hybrid is priced at RM147,500 (minus insurance) for the Premium Highway Star and RM135,500 for the Highway Star, including a 5-year Unlimited Mileage Warranty. A 3-year/60,000km maintenance promotion is offered as part of the introduction campaign, along with a free Terzo portable cooler box (worth RM 500), only for first 500 registered Serena S-Hybrid MPVs.
