Nissan’s “My Almera Story” gets encouraging public response

 2013 Niisan's My Almera story Nissan Malaysia (Edaran Tan Chong Motor) yesterday declared the winners of the recently concluded “My Almera story” online campaign which ran from 1 till 21 October.

“My Almera Story” or “Kisahku Almera” contest in the native language was a joint collaboration between ETCM (Edaran Tan Chong Motor) and the largest media corporation in the country. The purpose of the contest was to enable ETCM to engage the young, urban and gadget-savvy audience, as well as social media users.

The contest pointed to three video episodes on the life of a budding musician and teenager named ‘Eddy’. The videos depicted Eddy’s struggles to balance his ambitions with his band and spend time with his eye candy, a gal known as ‘Siti’. The main highlight was the Almera as each episode showed the car’s product and USP (Unique Selling Point) features such as ample legroom, boot space, keyless entry, push-start button and Bluetooth applications. For the final episode, members of the public had to pick or decide the fate of the burgeoning boyfriend-girlfriend relationship, either a happy or sad conclusion.

At the end of all things, Desmond Ling Chung Wei was declared the Grand Prize winner and walked away with a cool RM20,000 cash prize. First runners-up was Halimah Binti Bachik, who received RM5,000, and 2nd runners-up went to Nuzul Haqimi bin Ismail, who collected RM 3,000. 3rd runners-up Muhamad Mustafa received RM1,500, while the seven consolation winners got RM500 each.

Dato’ David Chen, Executive Director of ETCM, commented, “The contest provided the public with a unique opportunity to find out about the many benefits of owning and driving a Nissan ALMERA in a more engaging and interesting manner which was in line with its product positioning.”

The locals are already well aware that the Nissan Almera has been ETCM’s most popular variant since its debut in October last year. In approximately a year’s time, the Almera has spurred Nissan to number two rankings of MAA’s (Malaysia Automotive Associations) car sales tabulation for the non-national makes. The Almera variant alone has accumulated close to 20,000 units in the first 12 months of its product life cycle,

Nissan to display Almera IMPUL and LEAF at KLIMS ’13

For the upcoming KLIMS ’13 (Kuala Lumpur International Motor show), ETCM will be displaying the IMPUL version of the Almera and the Nissan LEAF electric car. The Almera IMPUL was previously exhibited at June’s Super GT Championship Malaysian round. Meanwhile, the LEAF will make its anticipated entry as a production variant in the domestic automotive market.
