People Mover with an Attitude, the Maxus G10 MPV

Maxus G10 MPV Weststar Group, distributors of Maxus vehicles, today unveiled the latest G10 Multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) for the domestic market. Under the sole stewardship of Weststar Maxus, the G10 is the first model to be distributed by the group’s subsidiary in the country.

Weststar Maxus is of course the rights holder for the Maxus product range. The company currently has 15 sales distributors and a network of 32 service centers nationwide. Weststar Maxus was awarded “the Most Outstanding Distributorship” from SAIC in conjunction with the Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition in 2013.

The China-made Maxus G10 MPV is dubbed the People mover, thanks to its 10-seater capacity. In looks, the G10 gets the typical MPV presentation albeit some outstanding features at the front, side and rear of the vehicle. The front is accentuated by a chrome-accented grille, projector-type headlights and rounded foglights. The side features well-defined shoulder lines and an elongated rear window portion between the B- and C-pillar. From the rear, the lowered rear bumper is integrated with deflectors, and there is an extended tailgate for boot access. Meanwhile, the rear combination lights are wrapped around from the back to the rear portion at the sides. The MPV is attached with 16-inch wheels, paired with 215/75R16 tyres.

Dimension-wise, the Maxus G10 MPV measures 5,168 mm in length, 1,980 in width, 1,928 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 3,210 mm. As a rival to the popular Toyota Alphard, the Maxus G10 offers the similar contemporary outlook with ample cabin space and flexible seating at half the price of an Alphard at an on-the-road price of RM139,888. The interior offers a spacious and premium-like cockpit, along with full leather seats, an ergonomic control center, 7-inch touchscreen with reverse camera, multi-info display, push-start switch, keyless entry and more.

The G10, billed as a versatile family vehicle, is powered by a 2.0 liter TGI engine with 225 horsepower and 345m torque for maximum output. It is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with manual code to ensure an adequately-powered and responsive driving experience.

Eventhough it is an MPV, the G10 is given taut chassis and suspension settings, thanks to high tensile steel frame, front MacPherson struts and a rear multi-link. The MPV even has Tyre Pressure Monitoring and Brake Override systems. The Torino-designed vehicle comes with a host of safety features that fulfil the European MPV passive safety standards. The safety kit includes dual airbags and ABS/EBD.

Weststar has reported that they have acquired some 120 units of the G10 prior to its official introduction. The group targets to sell approximately 500 units for the year.

The Maxus G10 is available in three color choices: Champagne Gold, Blanc White, and Obsidian Black. With a pricing of RM139,888 along with 3-year warranty plus one-year free service, the G10 would indeed give other Premium MPV models a run for the money.
