When the Geneva Motor show rolls around from 7 March, Peugeot will be causing a stir at the show with two world premieres, the Peugeot Sport Engineered 508 Concept amd New 208, along with the all-electric e-208. Along with the premieres, the brand is displaying the 3008, 508 Sedan and SW with a new Plug-in Hybrid petrol engine. And let’s not forget about the e-Legend Concept, the previous major motor show’s star.
The Peugeot Sport Engineered 508 Concept
The Peugeot Sport Engineered 508 Concept heralds the powerful electrified line of production vehicles developed by Peugeot Sport.
Derived from the radical 508 Hybrid sedan, the 508 Concept by Peugeot Sport has enjoyed a specific stylistic and athletic treatment. Aerodynamics have been worked on for optimal efficiency and effective performance: sharper front bumper, sharpened grille with floating blades, rocker panels equipped with flaps, fins on the rear quarter panels, new diffuser at the back. The ‘Selenium Grey’ shade, which varies depending on the light thanks to its pearl particles, is associated with ‘Kryptonite’ inserts, which signify the concept’s adherence to this sporty and efficient line.
The 508 Concept promises exceptional performances comparable to those of a 400hp internal combustion vehicle. It has four-wheel drive and offers spectacular acceleration, thanks to the combination of three engines: a 200hp PureTech petrol engine and two electric engines with 110hp up front and 200hp at the rear. In addition, the performance car benefits from the advantages of hybridisation with real efficiency and 100% electric travel up to 50 km.
New Peugeot 208 and e-208
The All- new 208 will get its due world premiere at Geneva following a wave of photos circulating on the internet. As Peugeot’s best selling model, the line-up is expanded to include three variants: all electric, petrol and diesel. Inspired by the Peugeot FRACTAL concept car, the new 208 features a new and unprecedented generation of the Peugeot i-Cockpit with 3D head-up combo and a range of driving aids, usually reserved for top-tiered cars. Additionally, a boost-up Mirror screen function, navigation feature and the latest generation of driver assistance equipment.
The star of the 208 range is none other than the e-208, which offers zeal and a stimulating driving pleasure thanks to its 100% electric engine power with a power of 100 kW (136 hp) and a 260 Nm torque (available from 0 km/h) for immediate reactivity. The e-208 differentiates from the petrol and diesel versions with these distinguishing features: a grille in the same color as the bodywork, dichroic lions (a process that changes the colour depending on the viewing angle) and an “e-208” monogram on the back and the letter “e” on the rear fenders.
Peugeot Plug-in Hybrid displays
Making their presence felt are Peugeot’s Plug-in Hybrid range, consisting the e-Legend Concept, 3008, 508 sedan and 508 SW. Accordingly, the Peugeot 3008 HYBRID4 and 508 HYBRID are set for roll out by next year’s fourth quarter.
Apart from the cars, Peugeot highlights for the show include the new brand signature “MOTION & e-MOTION”, Huge Lion in colors of brand’s electrification, Cycles and Motorcycles.
