Aston Martin KL inception in July 2012

In its relatively short existence, Aston Martin KL has established its main showroom in the Petaling Jaya Automotive Hub, Jalan 222 in July 2012, and in October 2012, the premium luxury distributor released the Aston Martin Vanquish.

The Aston Martin DB9 heralds from the classic charisma of the illustrious DB lineage, which stretches back to the 1950s – the first Aston Martin DB used by Herr Sean Connery’s James Bond. Fast forward to present time, the latest DB9, which marked Aston Martin 100th anniversary, is the most powerful of the DB line since the variant’s debut in 2004. Now in a Sports Grand Tourer guise, the DB9 is a potent British sports car indeed.

The exterior new styling sees DB9 adopt an even more lithe, fluid and pure form. Taking a classic Aston Martin GT silhouette as its base, the new DB9 communicates a powerfully assertive yet elegant character with the addition of a more pronounced rear boot ‘flip’ to further enhance the aerodynamic performance of the car. The new DB9 sits low and wide, communicating a clearly athletic stance. In either Coupe or the open-top Volante version, the DB9 is bound to turn heads.

As beautiful as the exterior, the interior of the new DB9 reaches new heights in material artistry. Unmistakably Aston Martin, the Sports GT’s opulently-appointed interior boasts authentic materials and the highest levels of attention to detail. The new DB9 now comes with distinctive pinstripe welts- produced in one continuous piece which is 2 metres long and then hand-stitched into place. This requires meticulous levels of control and precision by master craftsmen, to achieve the perfect finish.

A further demonstration of Aston Martin’s renowned attention to detail and craftsmanship can be seen in the jewel-like glass switchgear used throughout the interior of the sports GT version. Details such as these glass switches clearly demonstrate the luxury sports car maker’s commitment to the use of authentic, high value materials.

The new DB9 is equipped with the AM11 V12 engine that delivers not only significant improvements to performance, but also CO2 reduction when compared to the outgoing engine. The state-of-the-art all-alloy, quad overhead cam, 48-valve, 6.0-litre V12 takes Aston Martin’s ‘Gen4’ VH architecture hardware technology developed for the new Vanquish and delivers more power, compared to previously, for an even more spirited performance – the most powerful DB9 ever produced.

Tuned to suit the effortlessly luxurious character of the DB9, peak power is increased to 510 bhp – up 40 bhp on the previous DB9’s 470 bhp; and torque increased to 620Nm from 600Nm previously. The significant increases in both power and torque however, have been matched by an improvement in CO2 emissions level of 333 g/km- savings of 12 g/km. The new DB9’s 0-100 km sprint time has been shaved to just 4.6 seconds.

Nazrul Mohtar, Executive Director of Aston Martin Kuala Lumpur, commented, “We are very excited to be able to start the celebration of the 100th year Anniversary of Aston Martin with the launch of the new DB9 in Malaysia. This iconic model is an example of the richness of the heritage of Aston Martin married seamlessly with advance technology- a fitting embodiment of the heart and art of Aston Martin going into their next 100 years.”

“Aston Martin owners and enthusiasts will be privy to this timeless and elegant beauty directly from Aston Martin Kuala Lumpur; together with all the full Aston Martin model range including Vanquish- the ultimate Super Grand Tourer, the sporty and nimble Vantage range and the luxurious and elegant Rapide- the world’s most beautiful four-door sports car,” he added.

The new ASton Martin DB9 starting value is RM1.7 million; since its inception last July Aston Martin KL has averaged 7 units over a six-month span.
