Proton dealers visit Geely’s headquarters

National carmakers Proton recently sent a group of high-achieving top dealers to Shanghai, China for a tour of their major partner’s (Geely) headquarters. The entourage visited Geely factories in China in a bid to understand how Geely dealers operate their centers in one of the major cities in China. The entourage comprised of twenty-eight Proton sales and service center high achievers and owners, accompanied by the company’s management team and representatives from a financial institution.

The national car maker has recently urged its dealers and service center operators to upgrade their facilities in preparation for the new Proton models which will be introduced next year. The trip exposed them to a Geely dealer in Shanghai and for many, it was their first trip to China where a car dealer actually opened up its doors for the Proton citizens to learn and observe their daily operations. “The service has a waiting lounge that does not look out of place in a 5-star hotel! Usually, the atmosphere can only be experienced by European premium car owners but Geely is offering it to their customers,” said Ryan Lai, a director for LHM One Stop, a Proton 4S outlet in Nilai. Needless to day, the dealer was rather impressed with the level of customer service that the Geely outlet provided for its owners.

Dealers were also invited to test drive the Geely Boyue which will be introduced in Malaysia soon. “I was sceptical at first but from the moment I sat inside the Boyue, I knew this is the right vehicle for Proton’s new image,” confirmed Lai.

Apart from Lai, Susan Leong from Hoi Keen Service in Kuantan, Pahang was as impressed with the Geely visit as all other dealers. Hoi Keen runs a Proton service center with a body and paint shop in the State. “It has a luxurious interior and felt very premium for its segment.” commented Leong on the impressive service facility.

Another dealer, a veteran in the industry, Shamshudin of Pantai Bharu, who runs a Proton 4S center in Jalan Meru KL, expressed his confidence in Proton and Geely. He testified that the synergy between the two will bring a major impact for the Proton badge in the country.

Lastly, the dealers got the opportunity to visit Geely Research Institute, which showcased the group’s current technology and future designs.

The dealers above have announced further investment to expand their respective showrooms in the near future. And they are confident that Proton is on the rise again with the Geely partnership.
