Subaru’s Performance Division STI (Subaru Tecnica International) has released important updates for the STI S209. Unfortunately, the STI S209 is reserved for the U.S. market only.
With the STI touches, the S209 gets a whole lot more aggressive and mean looking, check out the mesh-typed front grille with cherry red stripe, front lip and front fender grille.
At the side, elements that differentiate the STI specials are the skirt, bumper bezels with a mixture of steel mesh and chrome plating, canards, garnish with S209 emblem, and those amazing looking black-colored mirrors. From the rear, it might look a lot like the Impreza WRX STI but there are several standout features. For one is the rear skirt flanked by the wide fender that pairs well with the bumper. Second, the S209 emblem and the carbon fiber spoiler are some of the giveaways. Up top, there’s the carbon fiber roof. Finishing off the exterior are the 19-inch STI BBS wheels with specially developed Dunlop 265/35R19 tyres.
Inside, the dynamic cabin proves the S209 with STI trims is above ’em all. There are plenty of meticulous details especially concocted for this S209 for example; the front Recaros and rear seats with silver stitching and accents, while the STI and S209 emblems are unmistakably included to remind the driver and passengers. As you get in the car, you’ll discover the side sill plates with S209 emblem.
The drivers stare at the red S209 logo-ed instrument panel, which is both decorative and functional. At arm’s length is the door arm rest decked with silver stitching, in fact the arm rests come with silver stitching.
The center console also has decorative trims with silver stitching, along with a serial number plate.Meantime,the boot carries a tyire repair kit. Further interior highlights entail the cluster’s STI and starting graphics, a central visor on the instrument panel,Ultrasuede-wrapped steering with STI emblem with silver treads, STI-designed push-start switch in red with STI logo, an STI-spec gearknob, and a silver-stitched shift boot Last but not least, a black sharkfin antenna is included for appearance sake.
The audio for this special model comes with 6 speakers that connects via a 7.0-inch multimedia system.
Exterior and interior aside, the STI S209 is made for one thing and one thing only – an exhilarating drive! To accomplish this, the car has to be fitted with STI-tuned Bilstein front struts with coil springs and rear Bilstein dampers. With all that fun, you’ve got to stop as quick as possible, fortunately the Brembo 6-ports front and 2-port rears are there to do the job real well. The brakes are painted silver with the STI emblems. Other factors that contribute to agility and dynamics are STI tower brace, STI flexible draw stiffeners, STI pillow ball bush rear suspension links and STI front suspension supports.
As a performance sports car that’s iconic yet beloved by some many in the world, the S209 is loaded with the exhaust valve spring, performance clutch and of course, your high-flow fuel pump and injectors & intake ducts, an induction box air filter, larger pipes, turbocharger with larger turbine and compressor, and most of all, the STI Performance muffler with lowered back pressure.
The renforced engine is tuned with a special ECU and works with an adjustable intercooler spray. The STi S209 is recommended with Motul 5W-40 engine oil.
To keep things in check,the S209 is fitted with Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) system, Active Torque Vectoring system and STI short throw shifter; out of the box.
