Refreshed DS 5 officially introduced in the country

Having made its debut in the country some months ago, DS distributors Naza Euro Motors has officially introduced the updated DS 5.

The 2017 DS 5 takes up the previous DS 5’s avant-garde styling and refinements with a dash of advanced technologies. New to the DS 5 is a fresh front fascia and removal of all Citroen badging to create a stand-alone identity

The most eye-catching enhancement to the new DS 5 is the new chrome hexagonal frame grille with the DS monogram emblazoned in the center. Maintaining its bold and aerodynamic features, the DS 5 front end stands out with even more character and prestige referred to as the DS Wings. The DS ‘wings’ flow seamlessly into the xenon headlights which are surrounded by the brand’s new LED light signature.

Furthermore, the saber design cues are retained and flows from the tip of the lights up the edge of the bonnet while the rear has a flamboyant ‘flame thrower’ rear lights and twin tailpipes. The view from the rear underlines the status of the DS 5 with its signature stylish rear lights complimenting its tailgate spoilers.

To top off the 2017 DS 5,  standard equipment offered are 18-inch alloy wheels, sensor activated headlights and wipers, side mirror turn light, daytime running light and rear parking sensors.

As before, the 2017 DS 5 takes up a 1.6–liter turbo high powered engine with direct petrol injection with improved output to 165 at 6,00rpm (previously 156 hp) and 240 NM of torque. The engine is paired to a six-speed automatic transmission that offers improved combined fuel consumption of 5.9 liters/100km and CO2 emissions of 135g/km.

Inside, the cabin of the 2017 DS 5 lends a touch of aerospace design; taken directly from its predecessor. The main controls are grouped on two central consoles, one low and one overhead, with specially designed buttons, dials and toggle switches; like in an passenger aeroplane. Sweeping over the cockpit of the 2017 DS 5 are three dramatic skylights with electric sunshades that help to create a truly inspiring interior ambience. The button and toggle switches in brushed aluminium are in two groups: one around the gear selector and one overhead.

Other interior highlights include color touchdrive interface with Mirror Screen, Denon Hi-Fi audio system with six speakers and boot-mounted subwoofer, USB/iPod with Bluetooth connectivity and an automatic dual zone air-conditioning, as well as color HUD, keyless access, front seats with memory functionality, electric parking brake and two-tone (Basalt Black and Sand Beige) premium leather upholstery.

Safety features and driver assistance systems for the 2017 DS 5 comprise Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Emergency Brake Assist (EBA), Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), six airbags and more.

Currently retailing at RM198,888 on-the-road with insurance, the 2017 DS 5 is offered in Artense Grey, Noir Perla Nera, Bleu Encre, Pearl White and Whisper Purple body hues. Standard 5-year warranty, 24-hour Roadside Assistance service and exclusive access to the Sky Lounge at Subang Airport are the included owner’s benefits.
