Second-generation Audi Q7 ready to hit European markets

2017 Audi Q7 Audi Malaysia is set to unveil the Q7 for the domestic market next week, but prior to that the four-ring marque has already announced the 2017 Audi Q7 for the European markets.

Only in its second-generation, the Premium 7-seater SUV from Audi is represented by its typically unique design and lightweight construction. Additionally, the 2nd-gen Q7 also adds benchmark in connectivity, infotainment systems and driver assistance technologies.

The 2017 Audi Q7 introduces the marque’s new SUV design language, which homes in on an all-new lightweight, multi-material body and chassis. Speaking of chassis, the Q7 adopts Audi’s adaptive air suspension; which enables the various suspension and damping combinations that work in sync with the available drive select modes.

The Audi Q7 has a powerful and distinctive presence on the road, as pronounced by its sculpted body and taunt lines. Having shed some 215 kilograms (475 pounds), the Q7 is a whole lot leaner and tighter compared to its predecessor. Meantime, towing capacity has been increased to an impressive 3,492 kg (7,700 pounds), with an optional towing package.

While the exterior dimensions have remained similar to the outgoing version, the new Q7 offers substantially more interior room for passengers with seating for up to seven standard. Through a combination of clean and simple lines and innovative technologies, the Q7 interior offers drivers and passengers alike an exceptional driving experience. Thanks to much improved interior space, headroom right up to legroom, even for the 2nd and 3rd rows, have been extended exceptionally. The overall interior design represents the ever-higher standard being set by Audi for its premium comfort and technology matched by the marque’s signature fit and finish. Expertly-crafted double inlay dash design, available customizable ambient interior LED lighting and segment-exclusive Bang & Olufsen 3D Advanced Sound System further enhance the “Plush” factor of the Audi Q7 Premium SUV.

The Bang & Olufsen system delivers an impressive, life-like musical experience through 23 speakers including two retractable acoustic lenses, all powered by a 23-channel amplifier with an output of 1,920 watts. A Bose 3D Sound System is also available, which includes 19 speakers, a 15-channel amplifier and 558 watts to deliver acoustic accuracy and audio impact.

Going into the suspension portion, the 2017 Audi Q7 takes up a newly-developed five-link suspension layout, which is standard across the range. The layout allows for optimized steering rack placement and an extremely compact design that enables a completely flat and lower cargo area at the rear. Handling and comfort enhancements have also been made possible through the use of lightweight aluminum, varying component layout and revised elastokinematic attributes. At the same time, all-wheel steering offers increased maneuverability at low speeds and more precise steering at higher speeds.

Stopping power of the Audi Q7 relies on the ventilated front disc and rear disc brakes, while electronic aids consist of Electronic Stability Control (ESC), meant for Offroad and Trailer modes.
