Soon-to-be-launched Toyota C-HR to appear in showrooms and hotspots

UMW Toyota Motor is scheduling another preview of the anticipated C-HR Compact SUV at selected showrooms from August, prior to its official debut in the country. The preview is also scheduled for the one-make Toyota Vios Challenge series in Penang and various hotspots. Previously, the all-new Toyota C-HR had been showcased at a domestic auto show in mid-May.

The C-HR is the second vehicle that has been developed with the TNGA platform. TNGA, which refers to Toyota New Global Architecture, is part of Toyota’s company-wide program to structurally transform automobile design in line with the company’s goal of making ever-better cars. The design of the C-HR features a diamond architectural theme, and the modulated structure of the cabin gives it an exciting feel.

Having first made its debut at the 2015 Frankdurt Motor Show, the Toyota C-HR is positioned between the B-SUV and C-SUV segments. The newC-HR continues Toyota’s exploration of an expressive new, diamond architecture styling theme. At the front, the C-HR represents a further development of Toyota’s Keen Look design identity. Above a robust central bumper profile, the slim upper grille has been evolved into a floating ‘wing’ graphic which flows seamlessly around the front corners of the vehicle. The diamond-patterned lower grille is flanked by sculpted downward projections. These powerful frontal elements are underscored by an aero-inspired, floating front spoiler.

Moving to the profile, the highly-facetted lower body, muscular wheel arches and aggressively angular rear shoulder are juxtaposed with an exceptionally sleek cabin. From the rear, the glasshouse tapers dramatically down to a powerfully facetted lower body highlighted by a pronounced diffuser, integrated fog lights and highly-distinctive, aero-inspired, floating rear light clusters incorporating diamond-pattern lens detailing.

The Malaysian version of the new C-HR comes with a 1.8 liter Dual VVT-i engine, paired to a Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT) with sequential shifter.

In addition, the new Toyota C-HR comes with a full range of safety features including Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA). Others include side mirror puddle lights, Follow-me-home headlights and a luxurious interior. More details nearer to its official debut.

The new Toyota C-HR will be on display as well at the Toyota Racing (TGR) Racing Festival on 12 – 13 August at Batu Kawan Stadium, Penang. Thereafter, it will be on display at the Toyota Subang Jaya showroom (16 – 22 Aug), Mid Valley (23 – 27 Aug), Sunway Pyramid (4 – 10 Sept) and other locations in the Peninsular.
