Subaru Forester attains JIDP Good Design Award

Subaru Forester 2013 picks up JIDP's Good design accolade The Subaru Forester today picked the (JIDP) Japan Industrial Design Promotion “Good Design Award 2013” accolade. The Forester first came about at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show during its North American debut. Soon, Subaru’s large SUV appeared at most important Asean markets, including Malaysia where the Forester premiered in August.

Domestic Subaru distributors Motor Image unveiled the 4th-generation Forester during August’s Mini Subaru showcase at a popular mall. The new Forester incorporates bolder exterior motifs and has a roomier cabin, along with much improved performance and higher fuel economy across the line; there are two versions to the Forester, a 2.0 XT and 2.5i. However, Subaru Malaysia has elected to distribute the Forester 2.0XT only.

The 4th-Gen Forester carries on the legacy of Subaru SUVs

The Subaru Forester takes up sharper edges on an all-new body, particularly the 2.0-liter’s aggressive front bumper with a one-piece mesh grille and chrome-framed fog lights. HID headlights, power-folding signal lights on the door mirrors, the rear’s twin muffler and a sturdy rear spoiler are quintessential elements that derive the sportiness of the Forester. Completing the Forester’s overall impression are the 18-inch Wheel and 225 / 55 R18 tyres. Further, the new Subaru SUV AWD, based on a new platform, has a longer wheelbase (now at 2,640mm). “This is an elaborately-created vehicle design embodying SUV elements which will fit all roads and conditions. Having stability, all-road-capability and versatility in one package, the car reflects the result of steady evolution achieved over the long-time pursuit of SUV simplicity and balance,” a JIDP judge explained. “The combination of stable handling and unwearying high-quality design, with features such as seats focusing on the fundamentals and highly-functional inside door handles, has resulted in a high level automobile design.”

In addition, the Subaru Forester takes on these essentials; the Turbo BOXER powerplant with SI-Drive , X-Mode all-wheel drive (AWD) control system, a redesigned interior, and safety features like immobilizer; safety pedal syatem; Hill Descent control; Hill Start Assist; VDC (Vehicle Dynamics control); reinforced beams; and 4-sensor/4-channel ABS with EBD and Brake Assist.
