|The new Forester tS is the latest variant to join the ranks at Subaru dealerships in Japan. The tS is all about an on-road vehicle that depicts rugged styling, performance, responsive handling and well-built quality.|
At a glance, the Forester is lower compared to the regular version thanks to the new STI-tuned suspension with inverted-strut (lowered by 15mm). Front fascia is dominated by the “STI” emblem and cherry red pinstripe on the grille, as well as metallic silver fog light bezels. The side is accentuated by the black door mirrors with side window moldings, tS emblem and 19-inch wheels with 245/45 R19 tyres.
From the rear, the STI under spoiler with black roof and large muffler cutter take center stage. As do the Cherry Red pinstripe on the bumper and STI,tS logos.
Interior-wise, the performance SUV features predominantly black-accented theme with red stripes and a speedometer with an STI logo as well as a carbon-toned instrument panel. Features such as these serve to reinforce the Forester’s status as an STI-tuned SUV. Highlights include luminescent speedometer with multi-function display and STI logo, steering with STI ornament and red stitching, STI-designed push button ignition, leather lapped gear knob, black leather/punching Ultrasuede combination seats, black Ultrasuede door trims with red stitches, silver dials and piano black-toned switches with red bezels, and lastly side sill plates on both sides. Cabin insulation is much improved with regards to the floor mats covered in sound insulating materials, as well as other NVH measures.
While the makeover is evident on the exterior and interior, the powertrain platform for the tS remains largely similar to the current Forester. The performance SUV’s brake system, though, takes up Brembo, front 17-inch opposed 4-pot ventilated disc and rear 17-inch opposed 2-pot ventilated disc. Meantime, the Forester tS benefits from its own exclusive tuning the “S# (Sport Sharp) mode” for “SI-DRIVE”.
The Subaru Forester tS is equipped with unique driver assist technology, EyeSight, and is exclusively tuned to give a more exhilarating ride. Its modified suspension setup such as tower bar, stiffener and support subframe are purposeful for that dynamic drive effect. Along with VDC (Vehicle Dynamics Control), the Forester is said to be much improved in terms of handling and stability.
