The long awaited 5th generation Honda City have been making waves on the social media for quite a while. On the 14th October 2020, Honda Malaysia have finally introduce 4 different variant of the latest Honda City. Among the 4 variant, Malaysia is the first country in the world to get the RS, which is the e:HEV variant.
For the 5th generation of the City, Honda had made it longer by 111mm, wider by 54mm, and lower by 10mm compare to the previous generation. On the exterior of the new Honda City, the RS e:HEV will receive new gloss black front grille, new carbon patterned front lip, new rear bumper with diffuser, new trunk spoiler, and new gloss black door mirrors. New LED Headlights with LED Daytime Running Light, new LED fog lights, LED taillights, and 16-inch alloy wheel will be available on the City V and RS e:HEV variants.
On the powertrain, the highlight of the City range is the City RS e:HEV that features the intelligent
Multi-Mode Drive (i-MMD) powertrain. The i-MMD powertrain is a hybrid powertrain that produces up to 108PS and 253Nm of torque, and the power is sent to the ground by the Electric Continuous Variable Transmission (e-CVT). The i-MMD powertrain and Intelligent Power Unit (IPU) system can transit between the three driving modes of EV Drive, Hybrid Drive and Engine Driveto suit every driving condition.
As for the other variant such as the S, E and V variants, they will be powered by a new 1.5L DOHC i-VTEC powertrain that produces 121PS and 145Nm of torque. The power is sent to the ground by the Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT).
For the interior, the new City RS e:HEV will feature a 7-inch Interactive Thin Film Transistor (TFT) meter cluster, sports pedal, and the seats will be wrapped in suede with red stitching. Meanwhile on the V variant, the seats will be wrapped in leather with ivory stitching. To enhance connectivity, the 8-inch headunit in the E,V, and RS e:HEV variant will get Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Honda SENSING will also further enhance the safety for the new City RS e:HEV variant. Honda SENSING will feature systems such as Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), and Auto High Beam (AHB).
Safety wise, the V and RS e:HEV variants will come with 6 Airbags. Other standard safety features include Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), Hill Start Assist (HSA), Rear Seat ISOFIX and New Rear Seatbelt Reminder.
The All-New City is priced at RM 89,800.00 for the V variant, RM 84,800.00 for the E variant, and RM 76,800.00 for the S variant. As the sales tax exemption will be going on until year end, the V variant will be going for RM 86,561.45, E variant for RM 81,664.82, and S variant for RM 74,191.27. As for the RS e:HEV variant, it will only be available in January 2021 and the price will be announce later.
The All-New City comes with five attractive colours which are Passion Red Pearl, Crystal Black Pearl, Modern Steel Metallic, Lunar Silver Metallic and a brand-new colour, Platinum White Pearl. Honda is looking to sell around 3,000 units of the new City per month.
