The BMW 218i Gran Coupé M Sport Is Finally Unveiled

Recently, BMW Malaysia showed us some camouflaged cars that was wrapped by Malaysian designers. Collaborating with the prestigious Time Kulture by Swiss Watch Gallery at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, the first ever four-door coupé BMW 218i Gran Coupé M Sport has finally unveiled.

The BMW 218i Gran Coupé M Sport will come with a newly-designed three-dimensional mesh single-unit kidney grille, LED headlights, 18-inch M light alloy wheels in double-spoke style 819 M Bicolour with runflat tyres, and slim wrap-around LED taillights to enhance the exterior look.

Powering the new Gran Coupé will be the familiar 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine to produces a maximum output of 140hp and a peak torque of 220 Nm. Paired with a Seven-speed Steptronic double-clutch transmission, the powertrain will bring the Gran Coupé to 100km/h from standstill in 8.7 seconds and top out at 213km/h. To further enhance the driving experience, BMW has added the ARB technology (near-actuator wheel slip limitation) to reduce understeer from the car.

As for the interior, the BMW 218i Gran Coupé M Sport will feature illuminated trim finishers in Illuminated Boston and LED light sources, multifunction M leather steering wheel, sport seats with Leather Dakota upholstery, two-zone automatic air conditioning system, a 5.1-inch BMW Live Cockpit Plus, and an 8.8-inch touchscreen control display.

At the centre console, there will feature the gear selector, iDrive controller, driving dynamics controls as well as the push start button. Positioned in front of it are cup holders and a storage tray for convenient charging via the Telephony feature with wireless charging. As for cargo space, the boot measured in at 430L and can be expanded when the rear seats are folded in a 40/20/40 split.

For safety system, the BMW 218i Gran Coupé M Sport come with a whole host of safety system such as:

  2. Crossing Traffic Warning
  3. Rear Collision Warning
  4. Speed Limit Assist
  5. Lane Departure Warning with active steering intervention
  6. Forward Collision Warning with brake intervention function
  7. Parking Assistant
  8. Reversing Assistant
  9. Active Park Distance Control

The BMW 218i Gran Coupé M Sport will be available in Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Snapper Rock Blue, Storm Bay, and Melbourne Red. The interior will feature black Leather Dakota upholstery with blue and black highlights. The Gran Coupé will be priced at RM 211,367.00 (on the road, without insurance) with SST exemption.

The First-Ever BMW 218i Gran Coupé M Sport will be available at all authorised BMW dealerships nationwide starting 8th October 2020. Customers can also book the new Gran Coupé on at RM1,000.
