While we’re still waiting for the arrival of the Peugeot 508 to arrive at our shores, Peugeot is celebrating their 210th year anniversary by launching the high performance 508 Peugeot Sport Engineered. Peugeot Sport Engineered is Peugeot’s new high-performance division that will be building electrified machine with power to create new sensations and driving experiences.
The 1st car that will come out of this new division will be the high performance 508 combining four-wheel drive (4WD) and plug-in hybrid electric technology. At launch, there will be 2 new high-performance versions of the new Peugeot 508 Fastback and SW.
When the 508 Peugeot Sport Engineered reach the market, the car will be the most powerful production car ever built by Peugeot. The powertrain will produce 360hp and 520Nm of torque by combining an internal combustion engine and electrical energy. This powertrain will push the 508 Peugeot Sport Engineered from 0-100km/h in 5.2s, 80-120km/h in 3s, and a top speed of 250km/h (electronically limited).
The powertrain is a combination of a combustion engine with 2 electric motors that is situated at the front and rear of the car. There will be 5 different driving mode to be selected by the driver which are electric, comfort, hybrid, sport, and 4WD to suit different driving situation.
In order for the 508 Peugeot Sport Engineered to cope with the power, Peugeot Sport engineers have adapted the chassis to suit it. The updates can be found on the high performance 508 are optimising variable three-mode shock absorber (Comfort/Hybrid/Sport), lower driving position than standard 508, widened front and rear track, 380mm diameter front brake discs and fixed four-piston callipers, and 20-inch alloy wheels fitted with Michelin© Pilot Sport 4S tyres.
To keep the 508 Peugeot Sport Engineered constantly juiced up, there are 2 recharging mode to help owners to adapt to their lifestyle. The 1st charging mode will allow the car to be charged up in less than seven hours by using a standard domestic socket, and the 2nd charging mode will charged the car up in less than two hours by using a 7kW wall box charge point.
Safety standard in the new 508 Peugeot Sport Engineered will be at the highest level. The safety system includes Night Vision, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go function, Lane Departure Warning System and Automatic Emergency Braking.
The 508 Peugeot Sport Engineered will be available in three body colours: Selenium Grey, Nera Black and Pearl White. All 508 Peugeot Sport Engineered monograms are black to highlight the sporty characteristics of this Peugeot 508. New 508 Peugeot Sport Engineered will be manufactured in Mulhouse, France.
