Renault has announced fresh upgrades and enhancements for the Clio and Clio R.S. (Renault Sport). Both Clio variants now receive updated styling cues and upgraded interior, as well as a host of trendy technologies. The 2016 Clio R.S. versions, Clio Renault Sport 200 and 220 Trophy, now come with the distinctive R.S. Vision lighting, a world first.
New Clio stands apart from the competition thanks to its full-LED front lighting signature. At the front, full LED “Pure Vision” headlights fulfill the dual function of dipped and main beam. On higher-end versions, the facelifted Clio’s headlights additionally incorporate C-shaped LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL), emblematic of the brand’s new lighting signature. The permanent rear LED lights mirror this look by similarly adopting a C-shaped design. In its entry-level and mid-range versions, thw 2016 Clio benefits from LED DRLs and a chrome trim along the bottom of the grille. Other stylish cues include a redesigned logo on the top grille, new wheel, wheel trim designs and a revamped rear bumper. There are four new hues to go along with existing body color palette: Mars Red, Titanium Grey, Frost White and Iron Blue.
Inside, the 2016 Renault Clio benefits from the introduction of materials usually employed by the marque’s top-of-the-range models. The texture of its plastics is of a higher visual and tactile quality, its chrome is more subtle, with less glare, and the colours inside the cabin are also more refined. Additionally, a series of upgrades driven by attention-to-detail and refinement such as a redesigned steering, grearknob and door panels; all decked in leather (higher-end versions). Now in a single housing, the armrests are more aesthetically pleasing thanks to a new grained finish and also incorporate new controls. The central air vents also sport a new look, whilst the LED interior lighting produces a pleasant, warm glow. Furthermore, the seat fabrics are of a higher quality across the board and, in higher grades, the design of the seats is more enveloping for superior lateral support.
Thanks to its new customization program, the 2016 Clio can be purchased in more than 30 different color combination: five roof decals, painted door mirrors for a two-tone effect, four exterior customization packs for front grill bars and side protective mouldings, and two new interior ambiences: Florida Red and Smoky Grey. For Connectivity purposes, the 2016 Clio is equipped with R&GO system, Media Nav Evolution and Renault R-LINK. In addition, infotainment and entertainment system options for the updated Clio now include BOSE with 7-speaker setup, available for the first time in the Clio line-up.
There are two new powertrains available for the 2016 Renault Clio: the dCi 110 diesel engine mated to a six-speed manual gearbox.and TCe 120 petrol with a manual 6-speed transmission. The dCi 110 delivers 110hp at 4,000rpm and 260Nm of torque at 1,750rpm, while 120 petrol gives up between 90-120 hp, depending on grade, and 205Nm of torque at 2,000rpm. The 2016 Clio variants offer emissions as low as 82g/km and fuel economy of up to 3.2l.100 km (88.3 mpg) on an NEDC combined cycle.
The sales roll-out of the new Renault Clio and Clio R.S. variants is set to embark in September.
