Updated Toyota Vios and Revised excise duties for Toyota MPVs

UMW Toyota Motor has announced new updates for their best-selling subcompact, the Toyota VIos. For the current year, the Toyota Vios gets the Panoramic View Monitor, the first to be introduced in the B segment, a digital video recorder and auto fold mirrors, as well as additional USB slots.

The Vios’ Panoramic View Monitor allows the driver and front passenger to view the vehicle’s 360° surroundings for hazards through 4 fitted cameras.

With the sleek looking digital video recorder, the owner gets a peace-of-mind whenever he or she is on the road. Additionally, auto-fold wing Mirrors which folds and unfolds automatically is designed to offer convenience for the owner to start and lock the vehicle. Last but not least, USB charging ports located at the center cluster are sufficient for both driver and passengers. All the new items are worth RM4,000, along with attractive cash rebates for Vios buyers.

Ever since it was launched, the Toyota Vios has been one of the top-selling compact sedans in the country for obvious reasons. Designed to meet the needs, it offers a great deal with economical operation and Toyota’s reliability and durability.

“The Vios has always been an excellent deal and now, we are making it possible for everyone to own one with this special cash rebate offer. And once you join the Toyota family, you will enjoy a wonderful ownership experience with Care That Amazes,” said Ravindran Kurusamy, President of UMW Toyota Motor.

There are six variants of the Vios to choose from with prices ranging from as low as RM76,500 to RM96,400. There are also six colour choices for the exterior finish, White Pearl CS (applicable for Vios TRD Sportivo only), Super White II, Attitude Black, Medium Silver Metallic, Silver Metallic, and Crimson Spark Red Metallic.

As with all the latest Toyota models sold by Toyota Malaysia, the Vios comes with a 5-year warranty with unlimited mileage travelled. The warranty is available for the next owner within 5 years coverage which further enhances the value of the car.

In related news, UMW Toyota Motor made an announcement on the revision of excise duties by Malaysian Customs Department for MPVs below 1500cc to the previous duty rate of 60%. With the updated excise duties, the company will revise the prices of selected Toyota models effective immediately.

With the excise duties reverting to the original 60%, the prices of Toyota Avanza, Sienta and Rush have been changed to the previous price.

Earlier, the prices were changed by the company on 10 April in reaction to the sudden increase from 60% to 65% in excise duties by the Customs department, which came into effect on 1 April.

For customers’ orders collected between 10 to 12 April, Toyota Malaysia will be using the latest revised price based on 60% excise duty.
