Volkswagen ID.4 Shaped By The Wind

The Volkswagen ID.4 will be the 1st all-electric SUV to come from Volkswagen. The exterior design combines a powerful expression with flowing, organic forms and excellent aerodynamic qualities.

Volkswagen is looking to cover the largest segment worldwide with the ID.4. The ID.4 is expected to be sold in Europe, China and later in the US.

Volkswagen is expected to invest around 11 billion euros in electric mobility to achieve their own “Transform 2025+” strategy. The ID.4 will be the second model based on the new modular electruc drive matrix (MEB) following the ID.3.

The MEB platform is designed for electric drive system only, and it will offer spacious interior space thanks to the compact design of the electric drive. The platform will combine with the low drag coefficiency of 0.28 and a scalable battery system to allow the ID.4 to travel more than 500KM.

The ID.4 will initially comes with rear-wheel drive, and an electric all-wheel drive variant will follow at a later stage. The high-voltage battery is positioned in the sandwich-design underbody to create an optimum low centre of gravity for driving dynamics as well as extremely well-balanced axle load distribution.
