Succeeding the CBU (Completely Built-up) version, the CKD Jetta offers two distinctive features; one, a spanking head unit in the form of the RCD320 radio with multiple connectivity options, and second, a reasonable price tag.

Volkswagen’s domestically-assembled Jetta is a compact sedan worth a second look

Exterior-wise, the 2014 Jetta takes on Volkswagen’s design language which is essentially inherited from its best selling Golf variant. The dynamic design lines are accentuated when viewed from either side. Up front, the chrome grille blends rather seamlessly with the halogen headlights with automatic activation that offers ‘Leaving Home’ and ‘Coming Home’ functions, while the supporting fog lights lend equal character to the bottom bumper. From the rear, the foglights and twin exhaust pipes further set the sedan apart from its hatchback cousin. Other exterior add-ons include mirror with ambient lighting, as well as Park Distance Control; which adjusts the mirrors when parking.

The new Jetta’s interior is a direct semblance to the Golf. Customers can expect plenty of classic interior elements that the Golf and Jetta are known for, such as; a sturdy leather wrapped steering, gearknob, handbrake lever and Black Pyramids decorative inserts on the dashboard and door trim panels. A boot space capacity of 510 liters isn’t the largest in its class, but sufficient enough for short outstation driving trips. Pertinent interior highlights for the Jetta are the auto-dimming rear view mirror, cruise control, steering switches, 60/40 foldable rear seats, Sienna fabric seats, front and rear armrests, Climatronic auto. a/c with 2-zone temperature, and a glove compartment with cooling.

The 2014 Jetta retains the 1.4-liter TSI powerplant that’s paired to the 7-speed DSG automatic transmission from the Golf. This enables 160 PS and 240 Nm at 1,500 to 4,500 rpm. It is tracked that a 0 – 100 km/h sprint takes 8.3 seconds and top speed could reach 221 km/h. Despite its able output and performance figures, the Jetta ensures a low combined fuel consumption of 6.0l/100km or 16.7 km per liter.

For safety aspects, the 2014 Jetta is loaded with these important features; 6 airbags all around, ESC (Electronic Stability Control) with ABS, Brake Assist, Hill-hold control, ISOFIX points, and head restraints for the front seats; similar to the whiplash term.

The 2014 Jetta is made available for booking this Friday at an attractive price tag of RM 130,888, which almost RM 20,000 off compared to the CBU Jetta. Four color options are valid for the CKD Jetta; Candy White, Platinum Grey, Reflex Silver and Deep Black.
