World Debut of The All-New Honda Jazz

The New-generation Honda Jazz (Fit) takes the limelight at Tokyo Motor Show with a world premiere. For the first time, the New Jazz features a two-motor hybrid powertrain which makes it more EV-like. The move to make hybrid powertrain standard for the Jazz is in line with the European markets’ demand for electrified powertrains by 2022.

With an e.HEV badge, the New Jazz is the first model to carry “Honda e:Technology” branding. Future electrified Honda cars will follow suit.

A new variant called the Crosstar is introduced to the Jazz line-up, The Jazz Crosstar has a crossover look, with increased ride height, a unique front grille design, water-resistant upholstery, and integrated roof rails.

As before, the New Jazz takes up a minimalist approach when it comes to outlook. At a glance, it’s instantly recognizable as a Jazz thanks to its familiar silhouette. The A-pillar is half the width of that on the previous generation.

The side has sharper, more vertical shoulder lines that emphasize the rear fender and wheel arches. From the rear, more clean lines are seen along with a sleek new horizontal light cluster layout and discrete roof spoiler.

Inside, the Jazz interior layout echoes the clean look of the exterior, complemented with an uncluttered, user-friendly instrument panel and wide center console armrest. Front and rear seats have been improved for greater comfort, while an LCD touchscreen enables all kinds of connectivity. The previous generation’s Magic seats at the rear have been carried forward to this generation. The seats offer both “fold-flat” or “flip-up” seat flexibility, depending on cargo space requirements.

Since the New Jazz is a hybrid, the 2-motor provides sufficient output, but more importantly the fuel frugality aspect. Honda claims that the powertrain is newly developed for Jazz and provides a smooth, responsive and direct driving feel.

As with all future Hondas, the Jazz is fitted with the Honda SENSING suite, consisting wider, improved camera, Collision Mitigation Brake System (CMBS), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Keep Assist, just to name a few.

The New Honda Jazz is set to roll out in Europe by mid-2020.
